Re: Nor Cal Shows Thread - NEXT: Nov. 27 in San Leandro

I went to the show. I actually picked up a couple good things, including a T207 Henriksen and some oddball Yaz stuff for my Dad.

It was a predominantly vintage show, as it usually is, with a few decent pre-war dealers. There were also a lot of guys selling the same 80s-90s stuff they've had in stock since the dawn of time. But a couple of those guys even had some fun stuff. A lot of vintage football was on hand too.

If you are mainly a prospector/shiny stuff collector/investor, then this show probably isn't worth your time. But if you build sets, player collections (of veterans/HOFs), or vintage, then it is definitely worth the trip the next time it comes around.

ALSO,
One dealer had a flier for the GT Sports Marketing show. Here is the info:

WHAT: GT Sport Marketing Show
WHERE: Santa Clara Convention Center, 5001 Great America Pkwy, Santa Clara, CA
WHEN: January 7-9, 2011
AUTO GUESTS: Buster Posey, Cody Ross, Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Ernie Banks, Emmitt Smith, John Riggins, Barry Sanders, Joe Namath, Tim Brown, Gordie Howe, more.

GT Sports Marketing Show added Andres Torres, Nate Schierholtz, and Pablo Sandoval to signers on Saturday and Freddy Sanchez and Aubrey Huff to signers on Sunday!

I'm on the fence, it's my girlfriends bday weekend and San Leandro is a handful of minutes from Napa, just not many shows in NorCal these days, we'll see what happens.

The next show is in Santa Clara, not San Leandro.

Too far for me. Looks like Tristar is the next show I'll be popping up at.

I went to the GT show today. It was pretty good. I saw a lot of dealers I don't normally see at the Serramonte or Classic Materials shows. There wasn't a ton of vintage baseball, but overall it seemed a pretty good mix. I prefer this space to where they used to do it in San Jose. I just made a major change to my collecting (started collecting football), and this is my first show since, so I thought it was great.

Good show.

The autograph pavillion was a fiasco on Saturday (basically becuase of Posey) but the show was still good.

I like the new location but hopefully they will get a little larger area rented in the convention center next year.

Re: Nor Cal Shows Thread - NEXT: May 20-22 Tristar Cow Palace SF

Was there as well. It was billed as a football show and it showed in the many tables with helmets and such. The tables near to the queuing area for autographs were kind of a crowded mess. Agree on the comment that it was light on vintage. Still I managed to get quite a few good deals on 10 Draft stuff and as always picked up supplies.

Anyone going to this show...it's a mall show, I didn't see on the page how many vendors they expected, would like to know if anyone has gone before and how it is.

It used to be pretty solid for a mall show, but now its got way too many beanie baby and toy dealers. That being said, there are still more tables than the other mall shows in the bay. I live in the East Bay and will probably make the trip if nothing else is going on.
