Just read that he has been posted by his team.

Like cespedes, has only wbc cards from 09 including sterling gu and bc cards.

Hes compared to ichiro. What do u all think?

Just like Ichiro, this past season, Aoki saw a significant drop overall performance from the previous season. Not exactly the best way to go into the posting process. He posted career lows in runs, doubles, home runs, runs batted in, stolen bases and batting average. However, his K's didn't go up any, so maybe he just had a really bad year of "hitting it where they are", like Ichiro.

Seems like its started.
A quick look at comc shows that most of the higher end stuff (and some low end) has been scooped up over the last day.

I still think there will be a spike. I mean, if I had any money at all I would be buying blue refractors and up at current prices. I mean, the last two gold refractors (1 Bowman Chrome version, 1 Bowman Draft version) sold for $12 and $20. You're telling me the odds aren't on those getting to $40-50 later this offseason?

With as many big name postings as there are the spike won't be huge, but it will be there.

Meanwhile, I sit on my Iwakuma Orange Ref and 2 Blue Ref that I have a total of $20 into :)

I don't think the spike will be any different from what Nishioka, Iwamura or Fukudome got. If he doesn't hit .300 in his first MLB season, his cards will go right back to where they were. So yeah, there will probably be a bump, but nothing huge, except for those who irrationally throw large sums of money at all foreign prospects.

Granted cespedes had "that" video which was so over the top that it got national coverage, and that helped blow up his cards, but aokis cards will go up (on top of the amount theyve gone up now) when he signs.

Now if any of the big big market teams even sniff at him and word gets out, prices will go higher.

And on top of all that, he is compared to ichiro which can only help.

I just think you bought his cards anticipating a spike like Cespedes. Theres not going to be a spike IMO, and most definately not like Cespedes.

I'd anticiapte him being like a Fukudome...... not another Ichiro when it comes to palying baseball AND insane card value.

I agree with the Fukudome comparison, talent-wise. But Nishioka, who was less hyped than both of them, had a huge spike. I only had 1 card, just a 2006 UD future stars base card, and i got $6 for it. Imagine what Aoki could be with the Bowman brand premium.

You have you understand that the value of these guys doesn't always jump at the same stages of them coming to the US.

Look at Chapman, his stuff went nuts when he signed with the Reds. Before signing, his stuff wasn't that crazy. But when he signed, if I remember right, it nearly doubled. It sounds like you think the only time to make money is right when a player is posted, or right when they defect. That simply is not the case.

well I totally dont think he will be Ichiro, but he is compared to him in Japan and that tag will follow him here until he fails.

I have $20 "invested" in him with multiple gu and x's so in way am I worried about him needing to be a mega star. In fact I could sell 2 of my cards and recoup it all now.

If he signs today, tomorrow, next week, etc, he wont have an mlb uniform card until MINIMUM 2012 Bowman (April?) and he cant "legally" have an RC Logo until about May.

Anyway you look at it, theres a 4-6 month window for his wbc cards to go up and to sell them.

I too sold the Twins import for severeal dollars which was, well, several dollars more than before he was even posted. Aoki will have the Ichiro tag follow him PLUS he actually has very premium cards, something the Twins guy didnt have.
