Beckett News » National Sports Collectors Convention planned for next six years, headed back to Atlantic City

By Susan Lulgjuraj | Beckett Sports Card Monthly Editor

Sports collectors always want to know where the National Sports Collectors Convention is headed next.

Officials at the NSCC have the location set for the next six years, NSCC director Mike Berkus told Beckett Media.

Chicago will be a hub for the show, going there every other year. But in 2016, the NSCC is returning to an old place after a 13-year absence – Atlantic City.

Here is the list of sites:

2014: Cleveland
2015: Chicago
2016: Atlantic City
2017: Chicago
2018: Cleveland
2019: Chicago

Berkus and his group have tried to secure locations across the country, including the west coast. However, there are many issues as to why certain convention centers have not taken on the NSCC. Some facilities don’t book many years in advance and some have certain requirements for room capacity when the convention center is owned by the city – and many are.

The NSCC board gives dealers a list of potential sites and the dealers are the ones that vote for the convention site every year.

Wondering if the shows in Cleveland will be at the new Convention center downtown or just stay at the IX-center?

Dammit, why can't they hold it in Dallas? Panini and Beckett are there, and Tristar is based out of Houston

No love for the Westside :(

My thoughts as well. Why not take advantage of the great weather and the large population in Southern California?

I do love it in Chicago, but also think Indianapolis would a good place also. Ive heard people say Vegas too, but I don't believe that be good as someone said about AC. A bad night at the tables and my National is over.

There are a lot of factors for where the Natonal CAN be and where it should be. IMHO -- CHicago is fine each year but as was pointed out to tme -- if we never move from there -- eventaully just a very large mega local show. Room SIzes, Hotel Rooms, Costs, etc all factor in the National equation. Look, Mike Berkus is one the Natoinal honchos and he knows everyone in California and yet the National has not been in California for more than a decade

This is a business decision, but in reality if we could have alternated between Baltimore and Chicago I think everyone would be happy. AC is a dump pure and simple and while growing up it was cool to go there -- that is not the place for a National. Cleveland -- too seperated for the hotels, terrible access going from place to place just a proftable place to run a National.,

Look, I live in Dallas and Market Hall is big enough for a National plus there are enough rooms nearby -- however the same problem for Dallas as for Cleveland -- no real way to walk between places, And the Arlington CC is not big enough at this pont nor is the Irving CC. George W Brown in Houston is big enough. bur Houston in the summertime???

As long as you remember it's all business, that is why AC, Cleveland and Chicago. I wish Baltimore would return. And people on the West Coast would be thrilled with Anaheim but not happenning for now.
