Awesome. I don't know how you do it, but I am thankful that you do. At our dinner table each night, we all say one thing we are thankful for, and tonight I will be talking about you and your platoon.

Three boys? Your wife is a hero too.

One question: What is the difference between a NCO and a commissioned officer?

1) THANK YOU to you and your extended family for their service to our country. Us civilians greatly appreciate your service and do not take our military members' personal sacrifices for granted.

2) Seeing your post - I remembered you requested an avatar from me that I didn't get to at the time due to many requests. Sorry about that and hopefully you'll like this:

They only awarded you with a Bronze Star for that?... :?

The Bronze Star is not a "Happy Meal" medal like the National Defense Medal and other "Everybody gets a Medal" medal.

The "V" device for Valor says more than the Bronze Star does.

Someone earlier asked what the difference was between an NCO and a commissioned officer. The difference is very simple…one can read map, the other one can’t.

Congratulation to the OP and all who are currently serving.

You clearly have no clue who you're talking to, but thanks for the lesson! ::facepalm::

And YES, the BS/V is a "happy meal" now a days. One of the fights I was in that only lasted 2 hours, the SFC on the ground got a SS for merely doing his job.

Brian deserved a SS/V. That's my point.

Also- you're NCO/Officer comparison just proves to me that you served (if you did serve) in some pogue unit, and not an Infantry outfit.

Think he is saying the NCO reads the map and the O cant (common joke in the Infantry) and this popping of chest is taking away from the point of the post.

I'm well aware of what he was saying. Funny, none of my officers ever had a problem reading a map and getting us where we needed to be. Just shows the quality of the unit I guess.

Who is "popping off at the chest"? ::facepalm:: Brian deserved better. Period.

Snyper, it is a joke, I would hope that an Infantry or other officers could read a map. Personally I know there are tons of NCOs and Officers that CANT.

That's a very nice feature story; you should be proud of it. I hope your tour goes by quickly and you get home safe (w/ sound body and mind). As stated earlier, be sure to tell your wife how awesome she is for holding down the fort! Thanks for your service.
