The Bronze Star is not a "Happy Meal" medal like the National Defense Medal and other "Everybody gets a Medal" medal.

The "V" device for Valor says more than the Bronze Star does.

Someone earlier asked what the difference was between an NCO and a commissioned officer. The difference is very simple…one can read map, the other one can’t.

I'm well aware of what he was saying. Funny, none of my officers ever had a problem reading a map and getting us where we needed to be. Just shows the quality of the unit I guess.
