I always thought the lucky chap to get this particular set would make a killing. Well it turns out he did make a profit, but I think he left some money on the table.

Re: Pretty excited about this purchase...

I know that you are looking to break it up, there there is a guy on SCF (and I think here too) that collects 1/*** that may be willing to work a deal on it. His screenname is adambancroft.

Very cool! And there's no way I would break it

For sentiment or you think it's more valuable as a set?

Sentiment.

Value it much higher if you break it up, but I think it may take you a while to get rid of ALL the cards.

I forget what the set was out of the gate.

Both. Right now you could possibly get more for it by breaking it up, but down the road I think it holds more value as a set. However, I think if you break it up now and sell it, you won't make your $300 back, that's the main reason I said keep it intact

Re: Pretty excited about this purchase...

I'll definitely be curious to see the end result of this set breakdown.

Mainly because I'm interested in seeing the premium that 001/999 brings over the regular #/999.

You basically paid a 3x premium for the 001/999, so it should be fun to watch.

I think it's plausible that your could parcel out 10+ $20 cards take care of most of the money, then break the rest into team lots, etc. But if someone out there collects 001/#### then you're golden moving the rest of them at 20 cents or so a pop.

I'd have mild interest in the Rivera depending on your price.

Succeed or fail, I don't mind posting the results here. I'm not unreasonable, I don't think I'll be selling all 360 cards within 2 months time. If you guys are interested, I'll let you know how it goes.

I dont see a killing being made on these, eswpecially with all the time & effort that would be involved. Good luck though!

Re: Pretty excited about this purchase...

how does someone come around to getting one of this Glossy sets? was it part of topps Diamond giveaways or w/e? wouldn't mind picking one up. Put together the 2006 set, really liked how the cards came out. Still have it along with SOO many dupes. Wish I held onto the autos and gu only have a few left.. was fun wheelin n' dealin and had a great time putting together my first non-Bowman set.

also how well do ttm/ip autos come out on these glossy cards? started getting my 06 a&g set signed probably won't ever get it done but always nice to get something new in the mail from time to time.

Re: Pretty excited about this purchase...

It'll definitely be interesting to see the results. One thing I've noticed with the purchase of my '05 TCU Red Xfractor /65 set is that It's more fun than I expected to buy sets and then sell them individually.

Best of luck!
