the Penguins and F Tyler Kennedy failed to come to an agreement on a new contract. Kennedy is a RFA but the Pens did not offer him a qualifying offer by 5 pm EDT today so he will become a UFA on July 1st. the Pens could have opted to take TK to arbitration but he most likely would've have won and receive a yearly salary around $2 million and the Pens are not willing to pay him tat much. he cost the Pens $700,000 towards the Cap last season and scored 21 goals and 45 points. both were career highs.

I am fine with the Pens letting Kennedy head to free agency. he is definitely a solid forward but is not worth Top 6 money. the money the Pens didn't give Kennedy will most likely be offered to Jaromir Jagr.

bucco what are you hearing on Rupp and Asham? aren't they gonna FA? I can't see Pens going with a soft line up. Teams will run them all the time. You can't have you only muscle on back end with Engellend.

there really hasn't been much talk about those 2. the Pens started with Talbot and he turned down their offer, then they made the Kennedy decision today and I would imagine Shero will talk with Rupp and Asham's agents tomorrow or Wednesday.

I would love to see both guys return, especially Rupp. he was a great leader when Crosby and Malkin were injured and stepped up in big situations.

the Washington Capitals signed F Brooks Laich to a 6 year contract.

the Tampa Bay Lightning have signed D Bruno Gervais to a 1 year contract.

I heard that they didn't want to go to arbitration and they're looking to resign him by Friday. They're also hoping to sign Jagr by then too.

I read the same thing. I hope Rossi is correct. if they can sign TK for $1 million or less I would be happy with that.

I think that TK will get somewhere around 1.5mil/yr just like Dupuis got.

I guess that is fine but anything over that is too much.

Would love to see Car Bomb back in Pittsburgh. Flyers got a couple of young guns to ride shot gun to Shelley. Would be smart of Pens to grab him.

NHL teams are now free to contact agents Don Meehan and Mark Guy to negotiate offer sheets for RFA Steven Stamkos.

which teams do you think will send an offer sheet and for how much money?

the Penguins have made Jaromir Jagr a final offer and told him the deadline for a response is tomorrow. he also has received an offer from the Detroit Red Wings.

the New York Islanders have traded for the rights to Christian Ehrhoff (Canucks).

[strike:2xo0eg4s]the Toronto Maple Leafs have asked the Penguins for Max Talbot's rights.[/strike:2xo0eg4s]

EDIT: the Penguins didn't like the Leafs offer.

Jagr is on his way to New York from the Czech Republic right now. He's expected to be there around 3:30 and make his decision within an hour of his arrival. *fingers crossed*

Me too. I not only hope he signs with us to help us get back to the finals, but I also hope he signs with us so it will be easier for me to get his auto on this.

Tim that pic is awesome. good luck getting Coffey, Lemieux and Jagr.

I guess I don't get the Jagr mania. What kind of money is he gonna get?

the Pens have reportedly offered him around $2 million. I think he can help the Pens power play and it would be cool to see him finish his career here.

it would suck if he signed with Detroit but it will not break my heart.

Thanks! I could get Lemieux whenever I want, I just need to get the $ first. I'm hoping that Coffey does a signing here sometime soon.

I would be shocked if he signed with any team except the Pens. Him and Mario have spoke a few times within the last week, so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Word around the water cooler (from a couple different sources including the Daily News) is that the Flyers have offered Stamkos an 11 year, $114 million contract.

If this is true, we're gonna lose Briere and I'm gonna get mad, probably break some stuff, then cry because Briere is gone and I broke stuff. :(
