I'm starting my Boise State and TCU BOTH belong in the BCS national movement here!

I know it probably won't happen, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't. IF they both run the table, I think they should both be in as those two at-large bids, even though a stronger conference's one loss team (2nd place SEC or Pac-10 team) will probably be in.

Anybody with me?

Good day, bad day kinda day for the "BIG" boys.

Both teams rolled pretty good conference foes. The losses by undefeated teams ahead of them TCU and BSU needed didn't happen. In fact, the teams ahead of them looked the best they've looked in awhile. But, the Ducks knocking off SC helps both, especially Boise who crushed the Ducks in week 1. I still think they both make the BCS, but some losses ahead of them would help.

Even with another impressive win tonite, TCU has very little shot at the Title game. They are smashing teams, and Utah was ranked #16.

For instance, right now, I have to say Alabama is playing way better than Florida. But, TCU wouldn't "jump" anybody in the BCS, so Frog believers have to root for 2 of the Top 3 to lose to have any shot of the title game. And Texas has a pretty easy schedule left, so that seems highly unlikely. Auburn is improved, but they probably can't beat the Tide, even in a great rivalry game.

So, we can just sigh and hope for a playoff sometime...

Well they actually only need to fill one "at-large" spot, cause don't forget the highest of the two will get the mid-major automatic bid.
I think today really opened things up - with both USC and Miami losing they are running out of teams that can even make an argument that they should be there.

I guess the most likely team to bump one at this point would be LSU or Iowa(whichever of them is left out). I was going to write a rant on why Iowa should be nowhere near a BCS bowl - but didn't want to upset some :D
It may just be my personal bias though, because I think the Big 10 blows and I guess I'm using the NCAA tournament logic where if a team has a key injury and/or is losing at the end of the season they are kind of pushed down a peg...but hey, what do I know :P

But, I seriously believe the Frogs can play with anybody, and Bama is the only team I think is definitely better than them. Too bad we'll probably never know.

Why is two too much? If they are the best two teams left vying for a BCS bowl then they should both get a bid.

I tend to root for the underdog when I do not have a vested interest in a game. (As an Indiana Hoosier fan, even a low end bowl is usually out of their reach.) I would like to see TCU and Boise State get a shot at the titel game. (No disrespect to Cincy, but the Horned Frogs and Broncos usually have good programs and the Bearcats are usually middle of the road.)

Living in Texas, where Longhorn fans make Kentucky basketball fans seem rational, I fear a revolution if Texas doesn't make it to the title game. As it stands now the winner of the Florida/Alabama game will play Texas for the championship.

This is from last year but I think this plan is the best for college football. Can you imagine how much money this will generate? It will put NCAA basketball tourny to shame. Great article.

I like that idea alot

Seriously, that's the greatest thing I've ever read about college football. It combines football with the Cinderella aspect of the basketball tourney. It's honestly pure genius.

any extrapolated playoff season nullifies the playoff system that college football already has

Every week is a playoff.

You play for the right to win it all every week.

Granted this leaves some schools out that might not have the tradition or reputation that other schools have. Perhaps a +1 system would make it so that an undefeated TCU or Boisie st could make such a Cinderella run.

I think it would be horrible to interrupt the madness that is week to week college football.

Playoffs? No thanks. I'm with Chris, +1 only for me. Imagine how lackluster some of the end of the season rivalry games would be if a team clinched a spot early. Yeah, you can play for a higher seeding, but I'd imagine you'd see some players getting rested.

I've always had my plan which is make all the auto BCS confrences have a championship game. Can't play for the BCS Crown if your not an outright champion in your leauge. That alone takes away a lot of the headache, as the Pac 10 and Big 10 will have to add teams to have a championship game (Why they don't is beyond me). Then, if needed, there can be a +1. It cannont be one of the ******** +1 games either. Set it up as a small 4 team tourny or a 3 team and the #1 ranked team a bye.

And I don't want to hear other conferences should have equal chance. These BCS conferences have earned their spots by being powerhouses. Also, the BCS is set up to let other conferences get in if they perform strong enough. You want it, become a powerhouse and when the evaluation period comes up, you've eanred it. It's not the SEC or ACC's fault these mid major conferences have only 1 good team.

Good weekend for both teams!

A Cinncy loss would have helped, but that's OK. Heck, Cinncy will probably jump TCU if they win next week.

With the BCS "at-large" bids wipe open, it looks real good for both teams to make it!!

Assuming Texas wins, and with OK State losing Sat., the Big 12 will probably only get one BCS bid. The Big 10 will probably get a 2nd bid (although I don't think they should), but that still opens up things for Boise St. I can't wait to see what happens when the BCS bowls are announced next week. Personally, I think TCU can beat almost anybody, and Boise can play with most of the top teams. We'll see...

The BCS is far from a playoff system
