Looking at all of the different mock drafts, I don't understand why the Astros are targeting OF with both of their first round picks (especially HS OF at that).

I would really like them to grab up a top college pitcher (like Harvey or McGuire), a COLLEGE OF (like Choice or Brentz) or the best 2B or 1B they can grab (at 19 at least).

Hell, why not grab Colon early and convert him or Mier to 2B?

I don't know, maybe I am just downed by the fact of all the failed OF before Pence and after Berkman (Einertson, Austin, Bogusevic, Scott, Lane, etc., etc.).

Braves have told Reggie Golden and his agent that they will select him if he is still around come the #35 pick.

I haven't done TOO much research on too many guys (primarily top 15-20 guys), but, of you guys who have done some pretty good research, any specific names popping up for the Astros at 33 (there 2nd supplemental pick for Valverde)?

I know many aren't but I'm actually a KLaw fan. He can be a huge ass but he's certainly well connected and has actually held front office positions.

I'm not into this stuff enough to know but I do know I wish the Jays had 9 of the first 120 picks or whatever next year. Outside of the top 3, it's not an exciting draft.

I think that is a purty tacky thing to say since the worst crop is " your bread and butter " and you will be interviewing these players in a couple of months.

One more tweet update : Indians "have backed off" Pomeranz .

and one scout said " IF Pomeranz can't get Zack Cox out, why would you draft him over Cox ? "
