Just a random question for the Pirate fans on here. Does anyone here read the comments on Dejan's blog? I think Dejan and Chuck Finder provide some fantastic Pirates coverage on their beat, but after reading some of the comments the past few days...I am baffled by how mindnumbing some of the comments there are. Considering the blog gets 100+ comments just on just about every post from the same 10-20 people, you'd think they might have a little better understanding of the game, wouldn't you?

pitchers and catchers reported to Bradenton today at Noon

first Spring Training game is Wednesday, March 3 against the Yankees at 1:05. it makes me feel a little bit warmer today knowing that Spring Training has officially begun.

The last couple weeks have not been kind to former Pirates. Former manager Bobby Bragan, 50's pitcher Paul LaPalme, and now Bibby.

I'm not specifically a Pirates fan but more of a baseball fan. I coach my son's little league team and chose the Pirates as our team. Why? Because, the other coaches picked teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Braves, Cubs, Cardinals, Dodgers, etc. It's like these yahoos are trying to be the big market team and win the championship when we are doing so much with these kids than just winning. There won't be a single 9 or 10 year old drafted from my team this year, however, I plan on teaching these kids something they can take with them to the 2020 draft.

On a realted topic, I asked the uniform manager if she could provide us with the late 70's hideous jerseys. She just laughed at me. One of those courteous laughs that I knew she had no clue what I was talking about.

Go Bucs. Good luck this year guys.

very well put about the other coaches picking the big teams names. I never understood why some coaches cared so much about their team's name. the name on their jersey isn't going to make them play any better. good luck to your Pirates this season as well and I think the 70's Yellow jerseys would look awesome on a Little League team.

the Pirates actually worn them last season to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the 1979 World Series Championship...

lol Dave that is wishful thinking... Maybe Tabata will be a good boost for the offense.

Thats awesome, Tabata's 1st game they put him into the leadoff position and he steals a base! He is 2-3 so far too!

Neil Walker has been very impressive both offensively and defensively so far.
