I wanted to start this thread to direct UD Management to visit. Please share scans of your before and after Sweet Spot autograph fadings here. I'll start things off with this one :( This card was in a snap tight holder with cards on both sides and kept inside a bubble mailer, so it was completely out of any light.

this has happened before - sometimes with UD's acceptance of a problem -

Not to mention the fact that the auto is upside down!

+1, also if I am not mistaken they have already said they will replace faded autographs.

I think you're half mistaken. If i remember the original person who posted that info tried mailing it in and got his card back with a couple of packs saying they were not replacing them.

Even if they were, it would probably be for whatever UD feels is equal value which does nothing for us OCD player collectors that would still want the card in our collections.

Thanks guys. I hope they are willing to do something about it. I just figured we can show them how widespread of a problem it really is by posting pics here.

I win:

I pulled this out of a pack about two years after the product was released. Needless to say the card never saw the light of day until opening and this is how it came out of the pack. I sent it back to UD who promptly sent the card back to me along with two packs of sweet spot and a note telling me that they wouldn't replace the card. They stated that too much time had elapsed and that had I sent it sooner they might have done something about it. The dumbest thing to me was that they were accepting redemption's on the product when I sent the card back so the product was still "live" yet they "couldn't" do anything about my card. The card was the second biggest hit out of the case I busted and I get essentially nothing for it. I haven't opened a pack of UD since nor will I.

You know some shady person would take a sharpie and try to forge his auto and sell it. It has the certification right on the card.
Upper Deck sucks!!!!

Very visible fading already in person, and I'm sure soon they'll be faded to next to nothing.

if we all know this will happen, and UD cant fix it, just dont rip it.
I know a lot of collectors like these ball autos, but cmon, some of them
are beyond horrible. how hard would it be for UD to take 8 pieces
of ball material used in the cards, sign all 8 with 8 different kinds
of pens, let them sit 6 months, and walla they would know what
to tell the athletes to use. and one of those 8 is deff not a ball point.

This is the worst one I have.

I keep it locked in my safe to prevent fading but each time I see it, it seems lighter.

Maybe they purposely used fading ink to take your mind of the fact that they put it in upside down? Or, put it in upside down, because they figured, "Who cares, it's going to disappear anyway."

Its actually the surface that the new ball hide is made of that causes the fading. Not the pens used. Its the same kinda cheap ball hide you can find on a ball that costs a $1 at target. And if I recall correctly...they were supposed to go back to old leather ball hides instead of this stuff. That would pretty much stop the problems.

I wonder what this was even signed with.It should have been a marker but it looks like it was signed with a pen that didn't have any ink in it.Almost like the tip scratched the surface of the leather as opposed to putting any ink on it.
