I've been looking at his auctions. Way too high a buy in for me. I'll admit to not being in the prospecting way when Price was lighting it up his so/jr years, but I do remember Strasburg autos being both hardish to come by and highly priced. Of course, his only autos were between his soph/jr year so there was no concern for market saturation as there is with Rodon and Panini being an unpredictable card in the field. Plus, with Stras he had the three digit velocity which seems to be, as BG would put it "sexy in the eyes of collectors". Rodon Ks a lot, but that might not be enough. There is also, for me, a concern of Matt Purke-itis and the fact that Carlos is a hefty kid for whom weight might become an issue.

These are, of course, relatively minor concerns. But, when packaged with the high buy in, I'm sitting this year out (both because of concerns about the player and concerns about Panini).

If I were the sort that didn't mind putting out $50 for an auto of the kid, I'd wait until I know he isn't going USA again. As of now, I'm buying a different Sophomore lefty who is putting up similarly great numbers against arguably better competition...

Ziomek:

CG, 13K, 1ER, 2H, 1BB, 1 HBP. AT #12 Oregon. Only run was a hanging breaker that Ryon Healy put in the seats.

Two Straigh CG, 28 K combined. Now has 46 K in 31IP. .87ERA, .62WHIP. 4-0. BOOM.

2nd straight CG for Ziomek. This kid is just insane.

9 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 13 K

(Great minds thinking alike, again.)

NOt bad for a guy that didn't crack 91 all game. Kinda surprising, considering his subpar 2012 year.

Jonathan Gray hit 100 multiple times for the Sooners, and was dominant once again. Killer slider as well. Possible top 10 pick.

7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K

Ziomek dealing again.

Didn't allow a baserunner until the one out in the fifth, no hits until 1 outs in the 6th, no runs until 2 outs in the 7th.

Not huge K numbers, but not too shabby for on the road in the SEC.

Ziomek's line:

8.1, 5h, 1ER, 2bb, 5K. Picked up the win as well. Merely average for him at this point. .92 ERA on the season.

Looks like freshman Ryan Kellogg of ASU just threw a no hitter against Oregon State, the best team in the west. No walks, but faced 29 batters.

Looks like Ryne Stanek had his best outing of the season. Good sign, especially since he's typically a slow starter and this was against #6 South Carolina.

9 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

Ziomek had his first bad start Friday:

6IP, 5H, 5BB, 4ER, 1K, after a perfect first 4IP. Took the loss against the Gators.

Rodon continues to be up and down.

5.2, 8K, 6BB, 2ER in a ND vs UVA.

Tyler Beede continues to give up walks and hits but no runs.

6.1IP, 5BB, 2H, 4K in a win (6-0) against UFlorida. 1.26WHIP, but only a 0.70 ERA. Probably an unsustainable ERA.
