Here's a beauty. Anyone know who bought this card? It was in davidsportscards for a long time, then someone bought it.

Would love to see the other 3 single cuts:

Dave just to let you know I'm pretty sure we can get this card into your collection shortly. I put a blaster break up where I hit a Montero orange/25 and I have been overwhelmed by pm's wanting it, so I've been working thru those.

There is a story to this 1/1, I had opened a case and a half of this back in 05 and put the cards in a drawer and recently traded the Hernandez decades auto to another trader on The Bench for a Blackburn auto and I pulled out my stack of decades autos and found it and was getting ready to package it up and I noticed it had a shine to it. Well it was then that I noticed the 1/1 stamped on it. I had this card since I had pulled it in 05 and never knew it was a 1/1. Here's a scan-

what an awesome set this really is. Wasn't collecting in 05 and didn't know it existed till I was looking for a Yaz auto the other day and came across this one.

Cool story! I have talked to a couple sellers on ebay that had 1/1's or even numbered cards....they had no idea they were serial numbered until i mentioned something. Sometimes honesty with them will help you get a card or two....worked out for me (well Dave really)!!

Triple Threads: That would be awesome! I know you'll love collecting this set. Don't know if we'll ever see an on-card auto set of this magnitude again. LMK when you start picking up cards, I've got some places where you can look.

bigalbert: Aw man, that platinum is beautiful!! Thanks for the heads up. Take your time. Deal with all those swarming prospectors and then we'll get down to business :lol: And like jpcz said, the numbering on the Decades are really hard to see sometimes. I literally spend hours on ebay looking at almost every Decades card just to see if the seller missed the 1 of 1 stamp!

zep33: It's nice to be able to say, nice pickup of a dual HOFer card!! What a great card to pick up. Congrats!

Set Tip:
How often do we flip a card over to look at the backs? I love doing that. UD did a fine job with the backs in this set. If you notice on the backs of some of the duals, UD printed the year that the player achieved something. On the ROYs set backs, they included what year they won it, and they did the same on the CY Youngs set. But they didn't for the MVPs and No-Hitters and SOC's. I like the inclusion of that stat and wish they had done it for all the duals. Just something I've noticed.

Ok, last post of the night, an oddball pic! Too much time on my hands I guess.

This is a series of Decades cards signed by HOFer George Kell. I believe Mr. Kell is well into his 80's or 90's, and I'm sure having to sign hundreds of baseball cards at a time is a drag, especially for an older person. I'm not sure if he got incredibly bored at the signing and wanted to get creative, or maybe he just was confused on where to actually sign the cards. I am saving the pics as I see them when there is another variation to his signature. Check them out!

If you go beyond Sox/Yankees (like your Ventura/Ryan card) there are many possibilities- Marchical/Roseboro, Reggie Jackson/Billy Martin- who else??

Hi Mike- any and all!! I would LOVE to see it! There are 200 platinum cards in the set, and I know of a handful that are in player collector sets, so I doubt if I will ever own those. But any others I am very interested in adding.

Mike- great selection of cards! The Griffey/Robinson is a beauty! And I love the duals from the same teams. The Cepeda is SICK!!! Let me know if you are open to moving it.

Thought I might share a small story about a tin i bought. I remember buying these for high 30's and 40's. One night in college there was an auction ending on a sealed tin at like 2am, and i said no way im staying up. It wasnt from a sealed case so i stayed away. Well, before going to bed i placed a bid (about 3-4 hours left, and i didnt know what sniping was) for something like 17 dollars. Woke up the next morning and checked my email to see i wont the auction for a whopping 15+shipping!!

When the tin came, i thought about selling it for a quick little profit, but then i said to myself.."i cant lose much, i wont get one for this price again". I cracked it open and found a redemption for this card:

Being a griffey fan, i was very excited!! It was second (and last) griffey auto pull from a pack, and i was super happy i didnt sell the tin!! Ended up with a tin that was less than half off, and a griffey auto worth twice the regular price of the tin!
