Welcome! I thought this would be a good time to start a thread where those of us who share a mutual admiration for the Ultimate Signature set can share our cards, stories, pickups, wants, etc. If anybody is interested, please post and let the rest of us know you are out there. I would love to hear about cards that you've seen or picked up from the set!

Of course I am in!!

I got into this set after seeing many posts on the old BMB, mostly by Raymond, touting how great this set looked. As Dave (and a few others know), I only collect the dual signatures and have 75 of the dual autos (out of 87/88). Of the cards I need only 3 are numbered more than 15- Cone/Maddux Cy Young (#d 35), Smoltz/Maddux Cy Young (#d 25), Jeter/Ripken ROY (#d75).

My first pickup was this card:

for about $15 and I was hooked.

My 2 favorite cards are these two, which have my 3 favorite players from my youth:

This is my favorite card of non-Sox, two players I loved from afar in the 70s and 80s.

I only collect vintage and the Mattingly set I am working on, but I just want to say that I think that is the nicest autographed set ever made. I'm not an Upper Deck fan, but man, did they do that set right or what?! Beautiful cards, guys.

Scott- you're in!! Amazing dual set you got! I'm hoping that we can fill in the missing ones for your set in the near future.

That Parker/Rice is one my favorites too. I liked the Pirates for a short time and Parker was my favorite player. And being Red Sox fans, my brothers and I would mimic the batting stances of 80's Red Sox players, and I vividly remember us trying to bat like Rice, Dwight Evans, and Yaz! Good time, good times.

Here's a cut card I would love to see!

I have scans saved of all the cut cards I've ever laid eyes on. Plz share any others that you have or seen! I'll post scans of them in this thread.

Chris D: Thanks! Couldn't agree more! I'm sure the amount of work put into sending out and receiving back the cards was more than UD bargained for! I have data in my blog on the set if anyone is interested. I'm sure there are sets that compare in terms of production, but to be all on-card is truly an incredible feat.

wideright-what platinums are you looking for? i have the orlando cepeda(i believe) 1/1 auto that i pulled a couple years ago when the product released. i'll try and find it and get a scan up if you want.

Hi Mike- any and all!! I would LOVE to see it! There are 200 platinum cards in the set, and I know of a handful that are in player collector sets, so I doubt if I will ever own those. But any others I am very interested in adding.

Thanks for that info! Funny you should mention that... Another FCBer (jpcz) and I hooked up with Secured Sports and bought a whole stash of his Ult Sig cards last summer! He has pretty much sold off his whole set now, and actually has the three cut cards he owns on ebay right now. Check them out

If you haven't checked out jpcz's Immortal set you are missing out!! I hope you are the first to finish the set John!

I just wanted to say that this is probably the most ambitious and gorgeous set to build that I have ever seen. And, I wish I had your collecting $$.

This is the only card I have been able to afford so far, but eventually hope to own all of the Dawson & Billy Williams solos & duals from the set.

Thanks! The Hawk and Williams have some nice cards in the set. Love the Supremacy card. This platinum Williams was a gift from jpcz!

And now that I know what you are looking for I will keep my eyes peeled for ya! Both of their cards stay in the low 10-20s so they aren't too pricey.

Yea, they aren't too bad. I think I paid $15 for the one I have. The only one that's going to take me forever is the Dawson/Sandberg MVP's. They always sell for $100+, and I've never paid more than $50 for a card

good luck finding the Cone/Maddux...I had a redemption in for one for over 2 years, and finally gave up and got replacements which sucked btw...I've heard people have seen copies though

I hear ya... never seen one with my own eyes. There is one recorded sale in Beckett Aug 05 for $140, so they do exist. I'm thinking a bunch are still sitting at UD, or one of them didn't feel like signing 35 of them, so he signed 1 and sent them back :lol:

Im hoping to join the club soon from a player collector standpoint.. the decades Canseco is up for auction now and I'd like to finally grab it if it stays in my very budget price range.. eventually the Supremacy card will surface again as well and hopefully I have the funds to get it as well.. this set has really sweet on card auto's.
