WHAT'S CAUSING THE MOST BUZZ AROUND THE HOBBY?
2010 BOWMAN CHROME BASEBALL!
Due out in October, the 2010 edition might go down in Baseball Card history as the greatest Bowman Chrome product ever!

THIS PRODUCT WILL HAVE A LIFE CHANGING CARD......STEPHEN STRASBURG SUPERFRACTOR AUTOGRAPHED ROOKIE CARD!
The Bowman "Red Border" has sold for OVER $100,000 (yes, you read that right) and here is the kicker.....THE BOWMAN CHROME SUPERFRACTOR IS BETTER!

But what about 103 MPH, $30 million dollar Cuban phenom Aroldis Chapman? Don't worry, he is in here too as an AUTOGRAPH!

And for the first time EVER, there will be autographed TEAM U.S.A. rookie cards!
This product has so much current and future investment potential, it's almost insane!

Holy crap. 011873 is DON WEST!

You know normally, I would just say my peace, defend myself and let the thread die but Im getting a kick out of all you jackasses (actually, not "all", sorry, you know who Im talking to) and Im feeling, I dont know, pretty confrontational right now, and thats a true rarity with me. Im also pretty bored and just like to show how dumb some of you are so here we go goonies strap in. Grab some popcorn, its good.

backpages: Maybe Ill just throw up some random one word reply posts, like WOOT! or NICE! or WOW! thats makes my post count go up and people like me because I like their cards.

I also dont have to school my guys in other sports, they buy what they like as in my baseball guys know who Crosby is, they know who Kobe is and honestly, they could care less about their cards and their sport. They do baseball and thats it. The ones who do multi sports already know about the players, in and out and up and down. My store isnt a public school for sports, my job is to teach/inform about products.

RiceEvans: Yeah I knew Id get **** for this post, totally knew it. If you spent all the time I have on the front lines dealing with complaint after complaint after complaint from my customers for years and years about **** the companies put out, especially 2010 Topps (and the vast majority of the times they were right) youd understand my anger/frustration.

Ive mentioned this before, actually, maybe last week, about my talks with Topps HEAD HONCHOS in person, phone/ net conferences, etc for years about how to improve (and many many other dealers as well thru the years) their products and all we ever got were lies and run around.

I guess you can just say 2010 Topps products have been the perfect storm which have just put it over the edge.

and Marro, poor poor marro: yet again, you are, get this....WRONG! Im not worried about getting my "money back" ( I only have a case plus of BC left and 4 boxes of TC and I dont wholesale... not worried) Im worried about topps and the hobby. Im worried because the exclusive is really hurting my store and think about it, if somethign was hurting YOUR income wouldnt that piss you off? I also love this hobby, I do collect too, and its gone no where but down, big, this year because of insanley unthinkable stupid moves.

And since you like to cyberhound my posts, you should know how often Ive talked to the big boys at topps, mlb and all the other ocmpanies over the last eight years. Ive only posted about it several times over the last few months. But like I say, again, youre wrong.

Warren: got to say, pretty shocked by you, guess you forgot we were pretty friendly back in aol mess boards days. Oh well, and guess what, youre wrong too, Ive been in business since 1998, not going anywhere. Atleast I have the balls to speak up.

and my buddy, my pal, my amigo, my brother, Josh: where o where have we gone wrong? Oh I know, you make posts. thats the problem.

If you think that Stadium has been successful after 1991, youre lost pal. I was there during SC time span. 1992 sold ok because of what happened in 1991 but three series later, it was doa on shelves.

After 1993, SC lost so much luster that the next year (1994), the product was revamped complete with new logo. and guess what? It was dead too. How dead? Well they changed the logo again and termed he product "EXTEME" for 1995. Oh and during 92-93 , they released two "update" sets (domes whatever) and they both failed and ceased after only two issues.

Heres comes 1996 and another new logo ...and another new logo for 1997 with new spruced up cards....along the way, new boxes, new wrappers, , SP's, etc etc. and nothing helped. IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT! Well Topps knew SC was broke and they tried fixing it till the cows came home, every year. Phew, Im done here. Ok one more thing, I said last week that Topps once said at a conference that SC ONLY SOLD WELL AT RETAIL. Thats what this brand was reduced to. $1.99 packs at walmart.

Man Im tired, honeslty, of proving you wrong, no joke. But Im not done. Regardng what I wrote about Topps basically reprinting their best Chrome Cards for FB and not making mention its a reprint. You said I wouldn tbe able to tell. Nice to leave important words out of what I said. I wrote: "if these cards were in a fifty percent off box or better (as in 60 off, 75 off etc) Id be fooled. While the chance that a Manning or Peterson in one of those boxes are low, it is possible for it to happen. Heck Ive found a TON of stuff like that in the past....TONS."

"Now if they were in a $1, $5 box, no, I wouldnt be fooled. Too obvious something is "not right'" There will be sellers who put these cards in their discount boxes, probably in a "ROOKIE CARD" top loader. No question about it.

Lookie here, most of the people (besides all the obvious ones) agree with me http://www.freedomcardboard.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=108949&p=1495387#p1495387

Topps hasnt made a blantantly similar reprint of a card. The 2001 that you stated, EEEEHHHHHH, wrong again. THOSE had a big ass gold foil 50th anniversary logo stamped on the front. Right there for all to see and, no need to "know everything" about a cards detail or squint at the copyrigt and youre lying if you say you look at every aspect of a card to make sure its not some new topps reprint. Yeah like If Im buying a 2005 Topps Chrome Braun, Im going to scrutinize it and make sure it reads Topps Chrome instead Topps yet is all chromed up. We all look for centering, corners, scratches.
Done with you too.

Brouthercard: No beef and yeah youre right, I need to get **** off my chest, thios is the place where I go to read, find out and talk about hobby stuff. Outside of my store, its the only place I do so.
I cant say all this **** to my customers, what type of salesman whould that make me? I dont lie to them, and I dont stetch the truth. Do I hype stuff, sure do, truthfully. I dont don west it, I BBC Galaxee it Humungo difference.

I have guys who are my customers on this board, and they will read this but heres the thing, they already know how I feel. No matter what business youre in, theres always customers who you know by first, middle and last name, guys who youd go to chow with, guys who you bs with, basically, friends. I pull no pucnhes with them. But I cant, no one can, stand on a box in the front of their business and shout negative **** about what they sell for everyone to hear.

and to think I was heading to bed early tonight. My popcorn bag is empty, twice over and my diet mtn dew is long gone and like d mill said, I....am.......otta here_______________________

Then you have failed at your job if you arent selling Hockey and Hoops. Shame on you
for being stuck on baseball, which according to you, is dying.

Here's a simple answer for your obvious dislike of Topps: stop buying and selling it to your "customers".

You come here and bitch every chance you get about Topps and all their f-ups, yet, on your own website you peddled BC as the greatest product in years.

"MEGA STAR BRYCE HARPER....LIFE CHANGING STRASBURG....103 MPH AROLDIS CHAPMAN!!!!"

Youre a typical lowlife [apparent] shop owner who sells crap and calls it gold.

I would hate to ever walk into your store because I know what i'd find: a lazy ass owner who doesnt give a damn.

Im not basing this on one thread, this is from your whole attitude from previous posts.

I bet youre also selling those "fracked up" BC boxes at right around $100 each, and TTT for $225....youre that kinda guy.

So what is he supposed to tell his customers? Don't buy anything because wax is a losing proposition every single time and the quality of the cards suck?

He doesn't point a gun to the head of his customers, and they have a choice.

You think his customers are all QVC and HSN zombies? You guys aren't giving the card buying public much credit. Many of the customers check out message boards, and most also buy on ebay.

Give his customers some respect at least, and maybe everyone should stop flaming away at the OP.

I think this thread is a good candidate to be locked, it has gotten WAY off topic- it had the potential to let people bitch about Topps this year, but obviously has soured in the wrong direction.

Why should it be locked?

Because the OP cant take what he gives?

His customers do have a choice, but im guessing a typical transaction with a customer goes like this:

OP: How can I help you [looks up from his double quarter pounder cheeseburger and extra large fries]
Customer: Yeah Im looking at buying a box...how's that Bowman Chrome this year?
OP: It's LIFE CHANGING man!
Customer: Really? Why is it so good?
OP: Because it's got the MEGA STAR BRYCE HARPER AND 103 MPH AROLDIS CHAPMAN!
Customer: Oh wow, those are pretty good. How much for a box
OP: $100 per
Customer: What if I bought 2?
OP: Well theyre in really high demand this year. Best I could do would be $180 for both
Customer: Hmmm, how about $165 and you got a deal?
OP: Sorry bud, this product is in high demand, I cant take less than $180 for both
Customer: [silently mutters to self] okay well how about Triple Threads?
OP: Awww man TTT is awesome bro! I've heard only good things about it! Seen alot of great hits!
Customer: Yeah I like it too. Opened a box last year, pulled a nice auto! How much?
OP: $225
Customer: A little high, I mean, the other shop in town has it for like $175
OP: Really? Seriously? Are you serious right now? $175? Are you for real?
Customer: yeah man
OP: If you dont go there and buy them at that price right now, im gonna close for a minute and go myself.
Customer: Wow, really? That good huh?
OP: Hell yea bro! I mean. just because youre here, i'll go like $200 but that's it
Customer: Well that seems fair, they probably sold those boxes anyway!

[customer pays and leaves]

OP now online at FCB: F*** Topps!! All they do is mass produce crap! $30 for BC is too expensive and TTT is a pile of horse****!! I'll wait until it drops even more because it's f***ing a ripoff motherf***ing a**holes and their godd***ed f***ing crap! I hate those motherf***ers with a passion!

I'm not sure your post has a point. The red statements seem to contradict the blue.

The OP has an opinion, is that okay?

He made some excellent points. Yes, he is piling on, etc, etc. But alot of what he said it true. Time to move on everyone.

My point is, he can hype or not hype his products all he wants or as little as he wants to. The customers will ultimately make their decision because they aren't stupid.

You guys are really starting to turn this place into the PSA boards, or maybe even the FCB football boards ::facepalm::

So what is he supposed to tell his customers? Don't buy anything because wax is a losing proposition every single time and the quality of the cards suck?

He doesn't point a gun to the head of his customers, and they have a choice.

You think his customers are all QVC and HSN zombies? You guys aren't giving the card buying public much credit. Many of the customers check out message boards, and most also buy on ebay.

Give his customers some respect at least, and maybe everyone should stop flaming away at the OP.

Fair enough. Nobody should disagree with any post.

Or everyone can learn how to disagree without personally attacking anyone. It can be done. Then we can be FCB baseball.

If you own a card shop in 2010 and your customers want baseball cards you need to buy Topps. The OP has pointed out most, if not all, of Topps 2010 baseball shortcomings.

Dealing with customers who pull redemptions is difficult enough, imagine having to deal with redemptions on top of everything else. Miscut cards, annoying white powder, missing hits, scratched whatever.

Topps has more or less admitted fault by installing the ridiculous wrapper redemptions. Topps sells trash, asks collectors to keep the garbage, and mail it back to them for more.

If you don't own a card shop, you might not feel the same way.
