Been looking for that Arod for some time, too bad I don't have the funds at the moment.

Oh come on man, he only wants $300 for it. ;)

Thats about right, I think it was acquired for $50ish

Very nice, Any chance you could scan the back of the centurion ref? Here's one I have scanned, the other has a number "055/75" so I'm thinking one is probably fake.

I dont have a scan of the back right now but the numbering is the same as your scan. My understanding of these is the ones numbered 0XX/75 are the fake ones.

A friend of mine has fallen on hard times, and wondered if i'd move some of his baseball sets for him. One is a Donruss Preferred complete in binder. Was wondering if the better option is breaking it up and selling off the better players, or just selling it whole as a set. Here's a scan of 2 front and back. Would grading be worth the time and money?

I'd list as a set at BIN/BO.

I wouldn't grade the cards if the two examples are representative of the average condition of the set.

Yeah, that seems like the way to go. Plus I really don't want to be stuck with a bunch of commons I can't move.

Thanks, I've heard both are fakes so I try to see the differences when guys post. I think the 0xx is also fake but they look more like the number pre-printed (75) on these cards so I've often wondered. Guess it doesn't matter though since I've got one of each :D .

So refresh my memory...how does one fake a Centurion refractor? Were these backdoored copies that were stamped after the fact by someone with a stamper or what? Because I'd have to say your run of the mill small time print shop doesn't have the material or paper stock to duplicate these at will. At least not at the price they'd fetch. Not to mention...you'd have to fence them out slowly enough so it didn't get noticed.

Backdoored after being stamped. I opened a pack with a 1999 McGwire Gold Die-Cut Refractor. The card was badly damaged, I returned the card and received the same serial number in return. However the size/font were different. This way they do a 1-1 swap and check to see if they card is ever returned again using the stamp as a reference.

Just got this in...it is #'d/100 1999 Gold Label Class 1 Red. It has the embossed numbering, but not the foil on the numbering.

So the cards are real totally. They were created and stamped in house. I'd call that a legit version then no?

If anyone is looking for 1994 Pinnacle Museum singles, my buddy gave me 20 or so to unload.

All are high #'s.

Great card. The 1999 were numbered like that, not sure if that was on purpose or a mistake though.
