Jastermereel - That is pretty impressive that you already had those Red Labels, Precious Metals, and others he had up in the past month. I really liked the stuff he had listed, especially the Riveras & Brosius. Regardless of how low the other stuff ended, I limited myself to just bidding on the O'Neills inserts I needed.

I kind of feel bad for the guy. I know he probably paid far more for those cards than they're selling for.

I have the Red Labels he's listed. The only one I'm missing is the #/25, which he hasn't put up for sale (yet?).

Brewer_Andy - Thanks, mine too. My favorite from the lot is actually the Bernie. I love the crazy colors, now I have to find a pink/purple card from the set. I see that a few Cirillos from the E-X just ended this week. :D

Mark McGwire Museum - Thanks! :) I couldn't believe I was able to land these from one seller, saved a ton on shipping.

8-) Should have an expensive Cirillo mailday to post in a few days. 7 cards off the list for $254 :?

Ha! 7 Cirillo cards for $254??? Must be 6 1/1's and a /10!!!

Yeah right, this is Burbank we're talking about. Not even close to those print runs!

Yeah, I don't even want to think about how much those would have cost in the 90s (pre-eBay). Hopefully there are more to come.

Wow. Nice card. Considering its on par with a Superfractor, not bad for a star rookie card no?

What do you guys think of this buy? It was listed on eBay as an error/replacement card, but seller was only guessing. It looks like a 1999 Upper Deck Exclusives Level 2, which for Series 1 should be a 1/1 card. Series 2 were serial numbered /10. There should be a 1/1 stamp in the black color on the lower right of the card back.

Anyone have a 1999 UD Exclusives level 2? Would especially like to see a Series 1 #1/1.

Can't believe if this is a replacement card, UD would bother to make more than 1 extra copy. So there can't be many of these out there, right? Or possibly this was the only one? Think $51 was too much for this? I set a snipe for $52.51, so barely won, but it was just me and another hardcore Grace collector bidding over $17.

Base and Level 1 (serial number #17/100 - jersey number)

I've never seen one quite like that either. So, its slightly smaller than the regular issued card??? I thought it might be 1 of the UD Choice Preview cards, but those weren't issued until the following year I don't think. Cool card though, hope Clark isn't in it.

Yes, quite a bit smaller... Here are some better scans (I only cropped around the toploader for effect):

The smaller card is actually copyrighted as a 1997 at the bottom, and the base is copyrighted as a 1995...

Hey- is this thread broken?! As far as I know no 90's mysteries are supposed to escape this thread unsolved!

I don't have any more answers on this one- I have never been able to identify this card either, but I can contribute more info by showing a Manny version of this issue. They are both #'d out of 48 on the back, and the fact that there is one Bagwell and one Manny would seem to rule out any type of team set...

Awesome! It makes me feel a little better to know there is another one out there...

I have done quite a bit of research trying to figure out what the card is, but have so far come up with nothing. I guess the search continues...

My other rare 90's pickup this week. Anyone know quantities or exactly how they were given out (wrapper redemption? other?)

99SKYBOXNATIONAL.jpg

Did all of the Skybox cards have the 20th National Stamp on them? I think they were a sponsor that year... I don't have many, so someone with more than a couple can confirm... All of my Molten Gwynns have that 20th National on them, so I did not think there was another version.

According to the SCD Annual, "a special version of the issue was sold only at the 20th National (Atlanta). The show version includes autograph redemptions for show guests and a die-cut series of 30 current and former Braves favorites. Each of the show version cards has a small National Convention logo printed on back. They currently carry no premium." Doesn't say anything about print run, but if they were only sold for four days in Atlanta, it has to be pretty small.

Is the National Stamp on the reverse the only thing you can see different on the card?? I checked a few over at COMC and the ones I came across all have the 20th National Stamp on the reverse.

Grace nor Gwynn are Braves favorites... I believe that is something totally different. Maybe a "Braves Favorite" set?

All base cards have the NSCC logo on the back.

Fleer made a special 30-card insert that was seeded into packs of Molten Metal that was distributed exclusively at that year's National in Atlanta.

How do you know the difference?
