I've never seen one quite like that either. So, its slightly smaller than the regular issued card??? I thought it might be 1 of the UD Choice Preview cards, but those weren't issued until the following year I don't think. Cool card though, hope Clark isn't in it.

Yes, quite a bit smaller... Here are some better scans (I only cropped around the toploader for effect):

The smaller card is actually copyrighted as a 1997 at the bottom, and the base is copyrighted as a 1995...

Hey- is this thread broken?! As far as I know no 90's mysteries are supposed to escape this thread unsolved!

I don't have any more answers on this one- I have never been able to identify this card either, but I can contribute more info by showing a Manny version of this issue. They are both #'d out of 48 on the back, and the fact that there is one Bagwell and one Manny would seem to rule out any type of team set...

Awesome! It makes me feel a little better to know there is another one out there...

I have done quite a bit of research trying to figure out what the card is, but have so far come up with nothing. I guess the search continues...

Well...all I can tell you is you're not going to find it on beckett's checklist unless they updated it. Was this a set handed out at the all star game that year maybe? I really have no idea what the hell it is but now I know I need to find one.

I honestly feel like I pulled this... Now, I could be completely wrong as this card has most likely been in my collection for 12 or so years now. I do know that it has been in my collection since '97 (the copyright date). Maybe I should open a few 97 UDCC boxes and see if another one pops up...

My other rare 90's pickup this week. Anyone know quantities or exactly how they were given out (wrapper redemption? other?)

99SKYBOXNATIONAL.jpg

Did all of the Skybox cards have the 20th National Stamp on them? I think they were a sponsor that year... I don't have many, so someone with more than a couple can confirm... All of my Molten Gwynns have that 20th National on them, so I did not think there was another version.

According to the SCD Annual, "a special version of the issue was sold only at the 20th National (Atlanta). The show version includes autograph redemptions for show guests and a die-cut series of 30 current and former Braves favorites. Each of the show version cards has a small National Convention logo printed on back. They currently carry no premium." Doesn't say anything about print run, but if they were only sold for four days in Atlanta, it has to be pretty small.
i have 14 of Juan Gonzalez, our web site has a total of 27.what are the odds of all 27 having the logo, and 0 without.i think SCD is wrong. there was no special version at all. until i see any card from this set without the logo.they were all printed with it.

I ripped a waxbox of this stuff back in '02. I did not receive a single Oh Atlanta! insert, nor did I get an autographed redemption card. However, all the base cards had the NSCC logo.

I'm pretty sure that the set was like OH Atlanta and was diecut like the Braves A insignia.

I went to the National in 1999. You are correct, these cards are die-cut, shaped like an "A" with various Atlanta players.

If you have a 97 Rivera, I'll buy the 96 Rivera Rave and trade.

241 is one of many suggest 1993 refractor print runs, no hard numbers ever given.

I'm not gracecollector but there are: 2,000 non-serial numbered Bronze sets, 1,000 non-serial numbered Silver sets and 500 non-serial numbered Gold sets were produced. Got it from Beckett's website.

Also 1995 Select Artists Proofs with an assumed print run of 238.

Magic answered that one correctly. And I forgot to mention the 1996 Studio Press Proofs that you reference. There were Gold, Silver and Bronze of them. Weird part was Gold were 500, Silver 100, and Bronze 2000. The silvers are the really tough ones, only distributed in retail hanging (magazine) packs.

Also, no print runs announced on First Pitch Previews, and collectors generally think print runs on those were not uniform for all players.
