Hoarders still maintain large quantities of these cards, yes I am one of them. Presently I know the hoard location of most of the Beckett SPs. Most 1993 collectors consider 30+ cards are hoard.

PJF, boxes like this occured, thus 241 is not a realistic number.

Commons go huge for several reasons; hoards, centering, PSA registry. I hit the first Jay Bell PSA10 and sold it for HUGE cash. I just bought a huge group of the cards with PSA pop of 3 or less, I have a $6K offer if I hit a Bernie or Destrada 10. Centering and surface condions makes these huge for the PSA guys.

Orel Hershiser raw sells $400-800, PSA9 800-1200 (hoard)
Charlie Hayes raw sells $250 (hoard)
Destrades raw $150-500 (Centering issues)
Bernie raw $100-300 Centering issues
Brady Anderson raw $200+ Centering issues
Reynolds (hoard and centering) the group I bought has 37 of these, pics when it arrives.

Cases with star players that come to mind, Tony Gywnn, Paul Molitor, Juan Gonzalez, Thomas. Other cases were heavy with stars but since stars use to sell better than commons they changed hands frequently. Commons are easier for people to hoard.

Wow, I had no idea, thanks George. I guess I'm just so used to people bluffing about pulls anymore unless there's concrete evidence, you know? I knew someone would have the answer either way.

Regarding 1993 Finest: I received a comment on my blog (not approved yet) with this info.

back in 1993 i bought a box of topps finest for $80.00 i opened the first pack in the store and the very first card was a refractor then the second card was also and every card in the box was a refractor i couldnt believe it the store employee told me i pulled a 1 in 500 box i kept the pirates jay bell and orlando merced and sold the rest of the cards to a dealer for 2 thousand dollars what a thrill!

Now I know that it's unbelievable that every card in the box would be a refractor, especially in 1993.

The most unlikely part about that story is buying a box for $80.

Boxes could be found for $80...for about 12 minutes after the product was released

The cheapest I ever saw them was around $15 per pack (18 packs per box).

1993 Finest boxes were reasonably priced for about a week after release. However, I have seen packs in boxes from $40-60 and refractor packs sell $75-125......Yes, refractor packs were marked on the exterior.

only cost $150, was actually excited to get it for that!
WHERE did you steal that from. WOW!

Actually got it on ebay. I was expecting it to go for at least $250 so I was pleasantly surprised when it went for less!
