Loving the Pinnacles @bigalbert !! Those unaware he's got a huge Ripken registry !! Ya gotta show some off ;)

Some scans of a Sammy Sosa unopened pack that I opened from the 1998 Pacific Nestle Very Best of Baseball Sweepstakes promotion. One of those regional promotions we never saw back east. Knick knack cards that seem easy to find IF you know they show up on a checklist

Each pack had 3 cards plus the contest rules card in it. The first five cards had player variations- two players both got assigned the numbering - so the master set is 15 cards. Only reason I knew about this set is my Nomar PC

Have a 6 item list of sports related postcards that I'd thought I'd share from the 1998-2002 FAMOUS FIXINS Promotional Postcards

Famous Fixins, Inc. was a New York based company established in 1995 by Jason Bauer and Peter Zorich. The company was founded to develop and produce an extensive line of celebrity endorsed food products which they wanted to market out to food suppliers. The company's goal was to achieve distribution of their products in supermarket chains, mass merchandisers, club stores, specialty retail outlets, and restaurants nationwide. They figured these would sell better than just base items due to the celebrity endorsements.

Some of the products they put out were salad dressings and the like by Olympia Dukakis, mother of Presidential candidate Michael Dukakis ( former Governor of Massachusetts), along with various Kelloggs cereals that used professional athletes endorsements. To promote the products , informational "postcards" were distributed thru the various companies as ad materials for display. These promotions ran from 1998-2002 with the baseball ones running mainly from 2000-2002. Some of the boxes even contained "instant winner" redemption cards for autographed memorabilia from the various athletes

Players who were on the packages and had postcards include Cal Ripken- Baseball ( Honey Nut Toasted O's), Jake the Snake- Wrestling (Frosted Flakes) , Derek Jeter- Baseball (Frosted Flakes) , Mike Piazza- Baseball (Frosted Flakes which had 8 players actually which I haven't researched yet) , Peyton Manning- Football (Honey Nut Toasted O's), and Sammy Sosa- Baseball (Frosted Flakes)

Below is one of the Ad Postcards for Derek Jeter. These Ad Postcards would be placed by the products
Bunch more online for Peyton and the others

Got this one from the person who saw it first. lol. Glad to have it in the Ripken pc. Coincidentally I saw the red version of this same card on eBay 25 years ago and didn’t buy it. Been kicking myself ever since.

Back when I first came across the card it always occurred to me 3 of the players were top notch and possible future Hall of Famers. Took a lot more years than expected but eventually the writers came to the same conclusions. Never wanted to unslab or transfer to my Bagwell PSA slabs as they were mostly Finest and this would be the only Bowman

Came across it while trying to address my living room
Dusted off and update scans. Going to be leaving me soon as I continue downsizing and selling

If this doesn't already have a home I'd be interested.

As I continue the promos / samples dust covered pile here's an unopened sample pack given out at the 20th National by Fleer. It contained the 1999 FLEER STAN MUSIAL NSCC COMMEMORATIVE set promoting products contained in 1999 Fleer Tradition. To most 90's guys- that Traditions set is honestly overlooked by many, overshadowed by that years Topps Finest and many UD sets.

Info about the promo pack subset from baseballcardpedia is below with a shoutout to COMC ( CheckoutMycards.com) for the item pics

Below is the sample pack you got at their booth. Was given to those who bought packs or boxes

full.jpg

Each item contained within the pack was meant to celebrate Musials career
A checklist of the items was contained on the header cards back
Card NC1 was a parallel exactly like his 1999 Fleer Tradition card #6 just with the NC1 special numbering
Cards NC2 thru NC4 all highlighted some of the 10 card set inserted into Fleer Tradition packs
Similar stuff had been done with Mickey Mantle in prior years

Pictures of the items within that unopened pack are below. I still have an unopened pack here also

Seeing the above remind me I need to dig out my Garciaparra Starting 9 and other 1998 Pinnacles🙄🙄🙄

Another 1990's slab recently scanned below. As anyone who has graded 90's Pacific knows getting Mint and above is difficult. I used to slab PSA / BGS Jeters all the time when I box broke- they always sold well. Need to find and dig more out of storage. I am beginning to realize the extent of insanity my collecting obtained.

Looking for another item because it's needed for my inventory located this Nomar refractor I haven't seen in 5 or 6 years
Removed it from the floor and put it back where it belongs. I gotta say compared to that years Topps Chrome Bowman Chrome just out does it. The Topps chrome cards - even refractors- lack the pop these Bowman Chrome have

Somewhere I bet is my Gold PSA 10 slab also
Those early 1990's Team USA teams were loaded with future MLB talent !!

A few update scans of inventory. Gold variations of some base 1999 Upper Deck HoloGRFX
I opened a box about a year ago in my box break thread
Believe I own a Gem 9.5 base card of that AUsome already
Strange how you open boxes and doesn't occur til years later that you miss variations because they just don't jump out at you like serial numbering does. Gold , silver, platinum tints- they all just blur

Strangely I had slabbed the base items from the above 1999 UPPER DECK HOLOGRFX series
Go figure - usually the base items are the very last items I'd have sent
Maybe topped off a bulk sub baack then- used to use base cards as fodder for the good stuff
Maybe bought them on feebay- can't remember I purchased way too much stuff back then !!

If you've ever graded 1997-1999 Topps Chrome you'll relate to the difficulty of getting Gem quality stuff. Surface headaches and indents, atrocious centering, and scratching are all common on those years.

Just got my last small sub back from BGS and was able to nail this one down 🥰 Probably destined for a BGS registry guy I know who needs this version. Mac has two versions his RN1 celebrated his record breaking 70 hrs and RN10 celebrated his 3 year total HR mark where he broke Ruths 3 yr total.

Have to use my camera as scanners just cannot show how nice these base cards are when they are gem condition. Back centering is only flaw I saw
