My SCD has it as only Griffey being the preview but Onionring has one for Mcgwire but no picture?

Nelson are you talking about the 3.5 X 5 card?

Griffey had three MVP samples that year. The one above is the first. I've never seen the last set which has everybody (including McGwire) in it. But I have yet to find an example of it.

1999 Upper Deck MVP #S3 Ken Griffey Jr. Sample (what you see above)
1999 Upper Deck MVP Silver Script #S3 Ken Griffey Jr. Sample
1999 Upper Deck MVP Preview #190 Ken Griffey Jr. (the 100+ card set nobody has an example of)

Nice pickups AndruwHRJones!

is anyone here familiar with the 98 fleer tradition vintage 63 classic cards? most of the ones i've seen (limited quantity) either are horribly off-centered or have scratch marks on the card. It "appears" that the Andruw below has some lines over his left arm and the bat. here's a Pedro I have and he has some scratch marks on his right shoulder and left hand. I'm just wondering if this was a known production issue

MartinezPedro_1998FleerTraditionVintage63Classic36.jpg

A Pedro recently sold on ebay and from the image it looked like it had similar scratching.

Mine does too. You can see it a bit in the scan next to the bat, but in hand you can see it ranges across the entire card from the bat all the way up to the top right corner.

I am a big fan of '63 Classics, but other than about 7 Rusty Greers the only others I've had in hand are a Jim Thome and a Jeff Kent. I have noticed some condition issues with these cards, but not all. I assumed that the condition issues were rough handling after leaving the pack and the gold foil diamond just being very delicate and susceptible to scratching. I have not noticed a centering issue.

Another variation I've noticed is the coloring of the gold foil. Most are bright gold, but some are a duller, bronze-like gold. Not as attractive.

Of course player collectors' favorite cards are the slightly oversized version numbered 000 of 63 that was probably back-doored while Fleer was still operating (based on fact that I bought mine in about 1999). These are most likely 1/1's. I recently slabbed mine since it wouldn't fit in a normal album sheet.

Mine definately has scratches on it, but for the price, I couldn't pass it up. Glad Rusty didn't bid me up too high. I had a snipe of $17.50 set on it, so I was happy to not come anywhere near that price.

Been trying to get a decent scan of mine but not having much luck. I don't have any scratch marks on the surface and the gold diamond is very gold, not bronze.

Heres a new one ( I think) no one has mentioned.

The one on top is the, well, Preview for the CC "Preview" set.

For those who dont know, the actual CC preview set was issue in clear packs (several cards per) for pocket change. A really dumb idea but mega easy for kids to buy. I might have been the only card store to carry these packs back then.
