Not an insert. I just had to show it off. No Name No Foil. Just in today in a large lot of Juan's. This to me was worth the value and then some of the whole lot, gave me CHILLS when i came across it.

Awesome! What player collector wouldn't love to find that card for their player.

not to hijack the conversation, but while we're on hard to find Cal Ripken cards, what do people think about this one? I believe this is from the Pinnacle bankruptcy and considered hard to find:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-Score-Sele ... 255c9d4cb1

From what I've read, there are very likely only a handful of these cards out there, despite the /50 serial numbering

DISCLAIMER: I am not the seller, nor do I know the seller

How long has that been posted? A Ripken collector should be all over it. I did notice the wording said "has been marked" to 50, but the one on the FrankThomasCollection has been stamped w/ serial number.

Check out two of the last three paragraphs here:

http://www.frankthomascollection.com/98 ... uptcy.html

That card has been on ebay for AT LEAST 6 months.

WoW~! Thats quite a while. I love the 5 Star Bonus cards. :D

Are your 5-Star Jeters stamped w/ serial number? I'm guessing those issues that were actually stamped probably do have that many in existence while with the unnumbered or hand-numbered nobody really knows how many are out there.

I would be inclined to believe all 50 are out there... here's my stash... (didn't pay over $40 for any of these)

With only 17 serial numbered copies made, I assume the unnumbered copies are less than that. From what I recall, the unnumbered copies were held as replacements for damaged cards. So I doubt they made another 17 assuming all of them would need replacing.

With that said, I have yet to see an Andruw Jones numbered or unnumbered and his is serial numbered to 18. So I think $350 is fair if not a good price for a Cal Ripken collector.

Does anyone have a serial numbered copy of their player? These cards do not pop up often, that is for sure.

Well... don't see anyone jumping on it, so not sure how good of a price it really is :D

An unnumbered Griffey recently sold for around $30 at auction.

And the Select 5 Star Bonuses were pretty common. Someone had a bunch of them and was listing them one by one. I had two of each for Maddux, Griffey, and Jeter and paid less than $20 for each. I'm down to one of each and probably won't bother to go for the Thomas or Ripken.

Yeah the highest I paid for my Ripken 5 Star was the first one as I hadn't seen one before that time. After that, there were quite a few more on eBay, most being from the same seller (most likely the same one you mentioned). I think the cheapest one I picked up was $15

Looks like it sold for $175. Seems like a really good deal to me for a card that rare of Ripken. Either way, looks like I overestimated the Ripken market.

Anyone have any 1999 UD Choice Reserve prime choice? These are nice cards and based on how much collectors choice was produced, these have to nearly impossible to pull, #'d 100.

I have the 1999 UD Cover Glory of Derek Jeter #'d 100, nice looking card

This is actually one of my favorite sets. I really wish they would make a set like that today.

I also have 2, one slightly different than the one already posted. ;)
