The Andre Dawson hoarding his '93 Refractors is just some sort of strange baseball card collecting "urban legend".

There is positively nothing to substaniate the story.

Most importantly you will have no problem picking up a 1993 Finest Refractor Dawson.

Jimmy Key and Orel Hershiser are cards you will pay a premium for due to hoarding.

I guess I am a liar.

Did not see your post earlier in the thread regarding your friend's story.

Certainly give you credit as probably the leading expert on 90's inserts, but you would have to concede that the PSA Pop reports don't indicate any kind of scarcity for this card and that it sells in line with the other cards of similar players in the set.

If Dawson did hoard he must have come off it or submitted all of his to PSA for grading.

I would guess it was a collector who was attempting the hoard (as some have attempted with random cards in the set) and fueled his own fire by making the deep pocketed Andre Dawson the guy you were competing against.

Verbal Kint/Keyser Soze sort of story.

With that pick up, I now have the 98 Rave 001/150, 98 Super Rave 001/25 and the 99 Super Rave 01/25. Anyone out there have the 99 Rave 01/150?

Think so? These cards are super tough to find. I'm impressed that anyone was able to complete the set. How much would it cost for BGS to grade all of these?

I thought the price was right in line myself. Might even be a little to be made split up. I have the McGwire already, but might make a run at his BGS 8.5 if he/someone splits. I think the one I have is 8-8.5 territory.

PSA population report for 1993 Refractors is crap. So many cards have been subbed, crack, and resubbed numerous time.......and by numerous I mean that I know of one collector whom has subbed the same card 20+ times.

Think what you want about the 1993 Dawson Refractor........I have the address where they were all shipped.

And NO, none of the cards are SPs, they are hoards......and by hoards I mean people that own 50 or more of any one card.

Some players have more than 300 1993 Refractor in print; FACT.

Wow, fantastic stuff! I keep wondering what it would be like to suddenly try to player collect a guy that had a bunch of issues in the super sweet 90's - is it too late to start? Are there some cards that just won't be available? Another thing is that the players that I can connect with are generally heavily collected. Too bad I don't like some schmuck... other than Rusty

How is this known/determined?

In short the son of a print plant employee was caught selling uncut sheets.....certain players cards left his hands in 50ct boxes. I will throw you one players name (Piazza).

Was it ever determined how many sheets were sold before he was caught? Seems that even with the 'extra' cards on the market the prices are still holding.

I know a number but it is not a solid fact so I will keep quite.

Market sucks when compared to prior to these being released.

I can only imagine the market on these upon release. I was 8 so obviously I have no clue but it is interesting to know that some were produced in more quantities. Thanks for the info.
