Moving on.......... Does anyone have both the Light Blue and Silver from 1997 Pacific? I thought I had the silver and purchased the light blue this weekend and they look identical and I can't figure out if I have two light blue or two silvers lol... I'm assuming it is only color and neither actually has any markings to let you know when you have.

You're right, it is just a color difference and the difference is so slight my scanner barely registers it so my scans probably won't help (maybe someone with a better scanner can be of more assistance). The only good way I've found to tell them apart is to hold them next to each other lol

Mansgame,

hope this helps--obviously easier with the cards side by side. Pedro Martinez 1997 Pacific base, light blue, and silver (L-R):

Yea, when I hold mine side by side they are so close to similar that I think they are both one or the other.

The difference is so slight that it doesn't even show up on my scanner. But when I hold these 2 side by side in person I can tell:

Yea, both of these look silver... I have to relook at mine tonight and see if they are both silver or light blue but I'm 99% sure they are the same. I am guessing they are the light blue because I believe the guy I bought it from would know but who knows. I guess the silver is limited to 67 copies? Maybe it's just the Belle...

I had multiple silvers and never seen a light blue, which is weird.

There's a handful of Light Blue on COMC, but over 300 Silvers. I think someone was breaking up a Silver set, which is a massive achievement to have put that together.

The foil on the Blues looks cloudy, compared to the sharper look on the Silvers. Here's a link to a Silver and a mis-labeled Light Blue for comparison:

What do you make of this? Just picked it up on COMC, the front and back don't seem to match (Pennant Edition is supposed to be 1st 500):

There were around 10 silver sets that were made available in the Pacific bankruptcy auction (plus Fairfield had some sets(and partials) in the large amount of stuff they bought from Pacific). I don't quite trust the 67 number that was released but doubt there are more than a 100-125 out there. This was one of the few sets I didn't buy, since the guy that had them wanted around $1000 per set and I saw more value in the slightly more common (and much cheaper) Pacific parallel sets (such as 1998 Pacific Red Threatt, 1999 Pacific Crown Red, 1999 Pacific Crown Platinum Blue, 1999 Invincible Red, and countless others).

Breaking up the set I've been working on. For sale or for trade. Will move the Griffey by itself. The rest have to go as a lot.

Granted I've never even begun trying to put a set together but I'm pretty sure it's totally doable. Or at least was. It's like over the last several years...pacific cards got very little love. Eddie(tonsofcommons) was probably trying at some point. But with the dip in interest that the 90's stuff experienced when the autograph/GU craze started...it was probably very feasible. Costly...maybe. Maybe not. But possible.
