Isn't making the observation that "Hip Hop= Black" racists in and of itself? I enjoy hip hop and all that comes with it, and I happen to be Caucasian. Thus bballkid hates me, and all others that enjoy hip-hop, white or black.

What was their argument for not bringing a glove to a baseball game?

I can't believe I was subject to hear two people's "Fav 5 international players" and it doesn't get better: coming up next is Kobe's journey. Token hip hop wannabe Stu Scott is also at the helm of the show and Van Gundy is rattling on about his favorite Kanye song. That was after he started babbling about the pointlessness of bringing a glove to a baseball game. The NBA is trying uncomfortably hard to be cool.
The NBA is too hip hop, so I don't even watch it.
It was my favorite sport up until about 10 years ago, now it's just a comedy show.
The bold just means "I don't want to sound racist, but the NBA is too black for me"
Well it wouldn't sound right if I did come out and say that. Some may get that impression, but MJ was my favorite player, as was Sammy in baseball. I'm just not a fan of overpaid 18 year olds sporting gold chains and nice grills who try to act like rappers. Give me some scrappy veterans like Malone, Stockton, David Robinson, MJ, Magic, Isiah, Bird, etc.
Fair enough. I guess I didn't notice the gold chains since I'm pretty sure they don't wear them while playing and are forced to wear suits when going to or leaving a game. I'm not sure what you mean by "acting like rappers."

nborton said:For me, the two things that hurt the NBA most are the inconsistencies in both the play, and the refereeing. First the players seem like they just go through the motions for 3 quarters and then play for real in the last. Secondly, the refereeing is very inconsistent compared to the past. Guys get away with so much today that didn't exist before. Part is to blame on the refs, but I think a majority is that the game and athleticism has surpassed the original intent of the game. The rules were established when guys weren't dunking, going around their back, crossing over people, etc. All these advancements have made it nearly impossible to ref fairly with the original rules in place. The game has gone from jump shooting to driving and dunking. It's pretty easy to judge a foul on a jump shot, but much harder on a drive.
This is the main reason why baseball is now my favorite sport, while basketball was when I was growing up. Baseball seems to be the most fair and honest as far as rules, and effort. It's a rare combination of a team sport that also singles out players. There is motivation to play all out every time called upon in baseball, because you are basically by yourself both on offense and defense, and if you screw it up everyone knows. There's no hiding it. Also, the rules are much more clear cut. The most objective thing is strikes, and at least the batter has three chances if he gets screwed once on a bad call.
