Yea, I know where you are talking about. Not too many Sox games unless I get tickets for free from work. FW Webb took me to their seats last year for a Yankees game. We were in the 2nd row of the State Street Pavilion right behind home plate. I still head in occasionally to hang out with friends still in the area. I was just there this weekend and went to Unos on Huntington to grab dinner and drinks with some friends.

mmmmmm unos is so good, i prefer the one on comm ave though

For me, the two things that hurt the NBA most are the inconsistencies in both the play, and the refereeing. First the players seem like they just go through the motions for 3 quarters and then play for real in the last. Secondly, the refereeing is very inconsistent compared to the past. Guys get away with so much today that didn't exist before. Part is to blame on the refs, but I think a majority is that the game and athleticism has surpassed the original intent of the game. The rules were established when guys weren't dunking, going around their back, crossing over people, etc. All these advancements have made it nearly impossible to ref fairly with the original rules in place. The game has gone from jump shooting to driving and dunking. It's pretty easy to judge a foul on a jump shot, but much harder on a drive.

This is the main reason why baseball is now my favorite sport, while basketball was when I was growing up. Baseball seems to be the most fair and honest as far as rules, and effort. It's a rare combination of a team sport that also singles out players. There is motivation to play all out every time called upon in baseball, because you are basically by yourself both on offense and defense, and if you screw it up everyone knows. There's no hiding it. Also, the rules are much more clear cut. The most objective thing is strikes, and at least the batter has three chances if he gets screwed once on a bad call.

All valid points. The refereeing drives me nuts now. I was literally yelling at my tv when Wade was getting every call in the world against the Mavs in the finals. For me there is just too much amazing talent in the league and great things going on to give up on it just because of some bad calls.

Oh, I'm watching as I type this. It's just not my favorite sport any longer. I'm not really sure what they could do to fix it at this point either. It's the one sport that's changed the most from the start that I can think of.

I think football could be heading that way too. The defensive players are just getting so strong and so fast.

I'm watching the Laker's trounce the Jazz and I get the idea of a halftime show; you need something to air while the players aren't playing and 20 minutes of commercials is turned off but this content is unbearable.

I can't believe I was subject to hear two people's "Fav 5 international players" and it doesn't get better: coming up next is Kobe's journey. Token hip hop wannabe Stu Scott is also at the helm of the show and Van Gundy is rattling on about his favorite Kanye song. That was after he started babbling about the pointlessness of bringing a glove to a baseball game. The NBA is trying uncomfortably hard to be cool.

The NBA is too hip hop, so I don't even watch it.

It was my favorite sport up until about 10 years ago, now it's just a comedy show.

The bold just means "I don't want to sound racist, but the NBA is too black for me"

Well it wouldn't sound right if I did come out and say that. Some may get that impression, but MJ was my favorite player, as was Sammy in baseball. I'm just not a fan of overpaid 18 year olds sporting gold chains and nice grills who try to act like rappers. Give me some scrappy veterans like Malone, Stockton, David Robinson, MJ, Magic, Isiah, Bird, etc.

Fair enough. I guess I didn't notice the gold chains since I'm pretty sure they don't wear them while playing and are forced to wear suits when going to or leaving a game. I'm not sure what you mean by "acting like rappers."

Whatever, it's clear that you just want to argue. I'm entitled to my opinion, and it makes me happy.[/quote:chrwdoiy]

i love people who are racist but back up there NON RACISM with nooo my favorite player was black, i have a black friend haha your a joke dude[/quote:chrwdoiy]

Nearly everyone has racial tendencies, whether it be subconsciously or masked by rationalization's (& I only put in the word "Nearly" at the beginning of the sentence to sugarcoat the statement in case there are member's here whom have not yet come to the realization that certain decision's they've made in thier life (whether large or small) were in fact done so because at one time or another they were influenced (& it became a learned behavior) by either a racist individual, or more likely, were programmed by the many racial influence's in everyday society). And racism is colorblind (oh the irony  )...

It's like some teachers that have tenure, they were once good but now are horrible. But they have been around so long, it literally takes something serious for them to get any slack.

That's a good point. QBs do seem to be going down faster than in the past. This is going to seem odd, and counter effective, but I think it would decrease injuries if the equipment wasn't so good. Guys go in for tackles like they are invincible. If they weren't wearing such protective gear, maybe they would feel it more themselves, and not go in like maniacs.

That's an interesting thought and I can't really argue against it. The way some of these guys just launch into offensive players with no regard for their bodies very well could be caused by them being protected as well as they are.

Everyone turn your T.V.s to TNT!
It's at commercials now, but I want all of you baseball guys to recognize which basketball team is the best.

I think you need to...shutup!
... :(

lol Why is this thread still here again?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a baseball guy first, basketball second, and football third. It's just that it's the NBA playoffs right now and I'm telling everyone off, as you can see above, because the Hawks are destroying the Heat.
