No, the rules say 19 year old minimum. Stern is actually pushing to make it 20 too.

[quote="rico08":14x2uhc2]I'm watching the Laker's trounce the Jazz and I get the idea of a halftime show; you need something to air while the players aren't playing and 20 minutes of commercials is turned off but this content is unbearable.

I can't believe I was subject to hear two people's "Fav 5 international players" and it doesn't get better: coming up next is Kobe's journey. Token hip hop wannabe Stu Scott is also at the helm of the show and Van Gundy is rattling on about his favorite Kanye song. That was after he started babbling about the pointlessness of bringing a glove to a baseball game. The NBA is trying uncomfortably hard to be cool.

The NBA is too hip hop, so I don't even watch it.

It was my favorite sport up until about 10 years ago, now it's just a comedy show.

The bold just means "I don't want to sound racist, but the NBA is too black for me"

Well it wouldn't sound right if I did come out and say that. Some may get that impression, but MJ was my favorite player, as was Sammy in baseball. I'm just not a fan of overpaid 18 year olds sporting gold chains and nice grills who try to act like rappers. Give me some scrappy veterans like Malone, Stockton, David Robinson, MJ, Magic, Isiah, Bird, etc.

Fair enough. I guess I didn't notice the gold chains since I'm pretty sure they don't wear them while playing and are forced to wear suits when going to or leaving a game. I'm not sure what you mean by "acting like rappers."

Are there even any 18 year olds in the league anymore? The new rules and all. Maybe an international player? I don't know of any players with grills either. You'd have to really search to maybe find pictures of them in their downtime, if any do. The funny thing about what bballcardkid said about the gold chains and Jordan being his favorite player, and what you said about them not wearing them while playing, is that a lasting image I have of MJ is him playing with a gold chain on. :)[/quote:14x2uhc2]

Brett, congradulations, you successfully proved me wrong by remembering Jordan in the slam dunk contest. Your right, the NBA is not as thug as it has ever been. I apologize for sucking at NBA history.

Honestly, what a stupid argument.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.

I can definitely understand the statement about players acting like rappers. How many players out there have tried to make albums and songs? Shaq - Multiple albums that flopped. Allen Iverson - Cut before release. Ron Artest - ehh. There's more, but I can't remember. I actually like some of Ron Artest's songs though.

And for the record, nobody really wears gold chains. It's platinum.

You certainly are. I'm not saying you can't at all. I just don't get it and usually hearing stuff like "it's to hip hop" usually just means "too black" since I don't see how something is too hip hop when they wear team uniforms and suits. Dwight Howard had to leave the bench when he was sitting out a game and was wearing a shirt, tie, and sweater vest.[/quote:3bf4bgxu]

There are cameras on the players outside of the game...

What a great way to market the league.

You might want to use an example of a CD that wasn't scrapped before it was released...

Damn, calm down, I wasn't making an argument, I was pointing out something funny about what you and tomlinson said. I know better than to get into an argument with you about anything having to do with race, politics or the like, because nothing will be accomplished.

I hope you guys hate the NFL too.

Too many kids with random women? Travis Henry comes to mind.

Players come off like thugs? Plaxico Burress comes to mind:

Also, is it ok for 18 year olds to be overpaid if they don't wear gold chains? I feel like there are a number of minor league baseball players that fit this description.

It's gettong harder and harder to find guys with that Old School (Playing) mentality. I Am enjoying what Wade, Howard and Lebron are becomming as those are just some of the Guys that keep me excited to watch the Nba. My man KG doesnt have much time left :| .

You really do like to keep stiring, do you not? You always put that last little comment in there, almost as if you are enticing me to argue with you. That would be called causing trouble.

I'm a big Wade fan. If I do manage to suffer through an NBA game, I enjoy watching him the most.

As much as it pained me to watch, Rose was an absolute beast against the Celtics yesterday. At least Rondo made a bit of a statement too. I've been saying this since he was playing 5 minutes a game his rookie season: Rondo is a great player.

Man Im with you on missing those guy. I think I just Love basketball as a whole enough to find my niche with these new players. It's gettong harder and harder to find guys with that Old School (Playing) mentality. I Am enjoying what Wade, Howard and Lebron are becomming as those are just some of the Guys that keep me excited to watch the Nba. My man KG doesnt have much time left :| .

don't forget Chris Paul.[/quote:ibognwij]

Deron Williams, Brandon Roy too. I also love me some Derrick Rose. Kobe's still my favorite though.[/quote:ibognwij]
