Quick question
What is this NBA you keep talking about?
And should be mentioned in the first post before any of the copied and pasted text; as should all sources be cited when information is taken verbatim.cgilmo said:

I've been involved in a few mergers and acquisitions in my day, though they've been in the banking industry.
What I can tell you is that there is a lot of work to be done before anyone can accurately comment on how this will affect their baseball card manufacturing process, if at all.
This stuff isn't figured out until after the deal is consumated. It's probably business as usual until told otherwise.
Having said that, this is great news for the hobby. Donruss has consistently produced top-shelf baseball, football and entertainment products the past eight years and now their signature brands will undoubtedly be rolled out in the NBA trading card arena.
I've always maintained that while UD produced great NBA-themed products, had Donruss had the chance to apply their magic to an NBA-licensed set, it would be lights out for UD (and Topps, but that goes without saying).
Congratulations to Panini and Donruss. This signals that all is not lost in the trading card industry and there are big-time spenders behind the scenes who still believe in the fabric of America's collecting pastime - trading cards.

that's a lot of "E" sounds in a row.
one would hope that they would maintain the donruss or upper deck brand
Yes and no - while the prestige and name recognition that comes with the two established brands are nice - a streamlined brand for their releases in NBA and potentially MLB and NFL would probably help their marketing.
