That's crazy.. I wonder if they are gonna change the name.

they're going to have to consider that step. But first they should get an court order to restore the wordmark pending an appeal decision on whether the US Patent courts overstepped their boundaries in stripping the wordmark.

If it is ruled they lose the wordmark, then they'll have to change it because you don't want "REDSKINS" floating around to be used by anyone and everyone and causing situations like the *** putting it on their hoods and making it look like the Washington football club approves of the ***'s activities.

outside of native americans, I think "REDSKINS" is pretty much a who cares. If many in society cared, the native american's "Redskins is offensive" ad would have had no trouble airing on the super bowl or nationally on the NBA finals (instead of just in a few cities) because some rich hollywood actor would have taken up the cause like they are bound to do with issues that society or they care about and send the native americans enough money to run the ad nationally on high profile sports events.

I'm waiting for Leaf to pounce on this and manufacture the first non-team sanctioned Redskins cards. They can't use the logo, of course, but they can make liberal use of the team name.

A good first step IMO...

Even Daniel Snyder's stubborness can't override him losing out of potential money...

But he'd still need the players approval to use their Names or descriptions. Either thru the Players Association or by dealing individually with each player. Doesn't seem to me like it'd be worth the hassle...

Perhaps they can keep the name after all?

That's what Leaf does with each and every card they produce already. ;)
