$60 Million Fine

4 Year Postseason Ban

Vacate ALL wins from 1998-2011

Scholarships reduced from 25 to 15 for 4 years.

All current players can transfer without penalty.

What are everyone's thoughts? This should cripple the program pretty badly, but I'm not sure it's enough. Joe Pa is no longer the winningest coach in history with the wins taken away.

I just hpe the 60 mil thats "earmarked" is actually kept track of. I see it as a cash grab. The vacating of wins is garbage imo but sometimes life isn't fair up in arms PSU fans. Could be worse could have had to shower with Sandusky when you were 10

I checked the football section before I posted and I saw nothing about this topic so I decided to post a thread to let people share their opinions. My mistake I guess. Like I said if this thread is deemed to be not appropriate then mods can delete at any point I have no problem with it.

wheeler- Hopefully the $60 million will go to some sort of charity or charities. As far as the wins go, I somewhat agree that it is overkill, but you are right a Sandusky Shower would be a lot worse.

Ive always been an eye for eye kind of person. If someone shoots and kills someone or multiple people, I believe he or she should be killed in the same fashion. Like the guy who shot those people in Colorado. They should have just took him out in an alley or the street and dropped him. It would make people like that think twice before doing something like that, knowing that they are just going to be put in prison and we the taxpayers are going to pay for it. The people who covered up the rapes of innocent children, should be ***** themselves so they can see what its like to be held against your will and forced to perform something so perverse.

My views may be a little drastic to some, if not all of you guys, but it just eats at me that people like this perform such heinous crimes and are just throw in jail.

Just seems so knee jerk and silly. Paterno's legacy is tarnished and very well should be forever. NO EXCUSES MADE FOR HIS BEHAVIOR. It's sickening.

Just really can't see why vacating the wins did any good or taught anyone any lessons. Just punished the wrong people. Massacre the future of the program, take those involved to prosecution, and most importantly, PRAY FOR THE VICTIMS.

Vacating the wins, along with removing the statue, takes away what the die hard PSU fans cannot let go of or see past. Paterno's legacy. They can no longer take pride in having the coach with the most wins. If all of this had not been covered up in 1998, Paterno could have gone on to have all the wins in the world and no one would have cared. But he chose winning and the football program over the safety of who knows how many children over who knows how many years. Football built Penn State, and I think it's great that they took away all the wins. I think that does more to solve the inherent problem there than the fines, bowl ban or scholarship losses.

Taking away the wins isn't punishing anyone. It was done to prove a point and a lesson, that football isn't more important than the safety of young children. JoePa and the rest of those clowns chose football over them.

Do you really believe this was done for any reason other than to save the NCAA from being probed into their control over institutions and how they are run?


Please stop this garbage that this is anything to do with justice. This had to do with the NCAA trying to make sure they no longer have to deal with the name PATERNO.

Once again, I'll repeat, the school should have gotten the death penalty and the NCAA should have investigated their internal process for how they keep track of the schools they seem now ready to punish.

Since I havent used that word since I was 12, I'll stay above that and just point out what I keep pointing out, this move by the NCAA was not for the justice of the victims, it was to make them feel better. Nothing they would do would be justice for the victims.

See I think if I was a victim I would be a little happy and would have tuned in(i am sure they did) to see them essentially crumble an institution's best athletic program that covered up a sexual predators ways. Knowing down in my heart if they had acted sooner they could have saved my youth. Did the NCAA have to? No but I that at least takes away a mans legacy that was built on a facade and shows the victims wins are not above protection of sexual predation and that they care as well while sending a message.

It also pretty much takes away the "We are!" bulshat for that stood for doing things the right way

Thats a very valid point and one I didnt really think about. State college becomes on of the top 5 cities in terms of population on game day but there is some not very genuine in the penalties from the NCAA, IMO. The 60 million dollar fine basically wipes out the revenue the college makes off of the program but still keeps that the NCAA makes off of the program.
