Apparently 2000 rushing yards for the 6th time in NFL history and setting a new record for yards for scrimmage is not MVP-worthy.

Congrats to Manning though; I knew it would be between Brees, Favre, and Manning.

I'm happy with Manning winning the MVP, but find it completely insane that Chris Johnson did not receive one vote
i agree

Manning could have passed for 5k yards if he played all the games.

But not getting one vote and rushing for 2k yards. all i can say is WTFH

The Brees/Manning thing last year (and it also applies to CJ this year) is more an argument of what constitutes an "MVP" then comparing stats.

Last year Drew Brees won the award for "Offensive player of the year". The fact he did not get a vote for "MVP" then does not indicate that he didn't have a great season, simply that the voters are not going to recognize a player putting up gawdy numbers on a non-playoff team as the "MVP".

Like I said earlier, I'm not surprised he won it again, and I feel he deserved it (as did some others). I was though surprised that the vote was not close.

Again I am a biased Manning fan but it is most valuable player. In 2008 Indy literally rode Manning with a ridiculous winning streak to end the year. Considering how terrible Indy was at the run it was obvious that no player was more valuable than Peyton at the end of 2008. As far as this year goes I am sure all of the comeback wins had something to do with it.

What manning does for the Colts is amazing he does it w/ a new coach, injured wr(gonzo) a minimal run offense and a rookei and 2nd year wr core. He carried the team on his back to a 14-2 season(though those 2 losses he didnt really play) Im surprised CJ didnt get a vote for 2000 yards but they didnt make the playoffs. Brees has a complete team from WRs to a running game. He also played like crap when it mattered most. Favre wasnt even MVp of his own team as you have to worry about Adrian Peterson the entire game. An as far as Rivers goes he to was deserving but Manning is more valuable to his team than rivers

I think another big thing that works in his favor is the fact he is more or less the offensive coordinator. There's no Sean Payton to take some of the credit for being a genius.
I know this is a bg thing for me when I think of Manning and why he is so valuable. When I watch him play the Dolphins it seems as if no matter what the Defense does it is of no consequence because he'll change the play and counter things to take advantage of however you line up.

I'm with Greg Easterbrook. They need to change the name of this award to "The Best QB or RB in the League". It's a joke to think anyone outside of those positions can win anymore. Taylor in '86 will be the last. And if there is a QB with a decent season that year, the RB's can forget about it.

I'm not saying I can argue AGAINST Manning this year, but hear me out on an arguement FOR someone else. Your team has flash and style on one side of the ball, but has such a glaring/gaping problem, that it isn't playing to it's full potential; so it's all up to the OTHER side of the ball to keep the team afloat. The problem is, your side of the ball is learning a brand new system. But that doesn't stop you from being the star and main reason that the success of that side of the ball AND potentially, the team.

THEN, to make it more difficult, you lose the only other player on that side of the ball that is at your level. Guess it's time to shoulder MORE of the workload. But does that slow you down? Nope. You are just as explosive, if not better. NOW, your team is going into the Playoffs as argueabley the hottest team in the game.

I'm sure you all know I'm talking about Woodson. I'm just making an arguement for him.

You tell me: will non-QBs/RBs ever get a fair shot?
