Ridiculous. Stallworth kills someone and gets 24 days and Plaxico shoots himself like a dumb ass and gets 2 years for something that's legal in about 40 states and should be legal in all states.

It's good to see a professional athlete not get off with a slap on the wrist for comitting a felony. This is a W for the good guys in my book. If you want to carry a gun moved to a state that allows it and get you CCW. Don't think you can carry an illegally, unregistered, loaded firearm in a crowded place. Not to mention the club sells alcohol. He would have been comitting a crime in any state.

its amazing that stalmorth only got 1 year but burress deserves the 2 year because that is how long the law says he should go to jain for having an unlisensed weapon.

So you have no problem with someone going to jail for 2 years for a victimless crime?

What about drug dealers, there's no victims and they get sent to prison all the time.

What's more stupid...

a. Shooting yourself in the leg with an unlicensed gun.

b. Turning down a plea deal for one year of jail time, only to plead guilty months later and take a two year jail term?

Are you serious? How many people are killed during drug deals? How about neighborhoods where crack and drug houses are. Are the neighbors around that house with all of the drug deals going on not victims? How about the people that are robbed, beat, killed from junkies trying to get money to go buy drugs? Are they not victims either? I won't count the actual users/junkies but there have been many cases where they are considered the victim.

That's the thing, people who use drugs bring the possibility of a crime to themselves, just like Plexiglass did when he brought an unlicensed gun into a club. I have no problem seeing him go to jail for 2 years, he broke the law in the state of New York.

I completely understand what you're saying. Me personally, I don't think carrying guns should be illegal. RESPONSIBLE gun owners should be able to carry whenever they want. Plaxico was clearly not a responsible gun owner and should be punished accordingly. I just don't feel like 2 years in prison is warranted. I think the DA wanted to make an example out of him.
