Player Collectors: Would you knowingly buy a fake patch card

For the player collectors out there. Would you knowingly buy a fake patch card if you didn't have one in your PC already? Especially if it is a low numbered one?

I wouldnt want a real card that had a fake patch if it wasnt expressed to me in advance.

If it's a Man. patch, yes.

If the swatch was switched (not that anyone would do that to the patch card w/variations that Perk DOES have), probably not.

Nobody knows if first patch was real in first place. So does it really even matter? How anyone spends big $ on patch cards still amazes me.

I voted No, even if it was a 1/1 I would pass. There are enough Andruw Cards I still need that I could use that money on.

No way...I pass on lots of cards even if thre's a chance of it not being real. There's way too many other cards I need so it's not worth the chance...

Manufactured patches I like, though!

this was an easy answer: no. I didn't think twice about not pursuing this Shawn Green card that ended Tuesday. #ed to 490, it always features a plain white or navy blue swatch, and never even a hint of a patch. The gavel went off at almost $73 - someone got hosed. The seller keeps all of his auctions private, so there isn't even a way to contact the buyer through feedback.

I'd buy it if I didn't have the card, although I wouldn't pay more than I would have otherwise (e.g., $73 for a $3 Shawn Green card /490). Honestly, a one inch slice of fabric doesn't really do it for me, whether it was used in a game or not. For me it's more about finding the card and checking it off the list than it is about holding it in my hands and getting sentimental; although if a card looks particularly nice aesthetically, that's cool too, albeit rare.

That said, at least two things would bother me about the card. First, it wouldn't be as it was issued from the manufacturer. But even then, I'd probably bid and then look to upgrade. Second, and probably the toughest pill to swallow, would be the act of supporting a seller who I knew was faking cards. Even if I'm willing to have a "modified" card in my collection, making and selling it is still unethical.

In that case I might bite, but what seller would admit to faking a card? Wouldn't that open them up to all sorts of troubles w/ ebay,paypal, etc...

Just send a message saying "hey, do you happen to have another, completely separate, patch of player X that might fit into Y card? Could you send that along if I win?"

But I jest. I wonder if the majority of patch fakers throw away the real jersey pieces/patches that they remove, or if they like to hang on to them for fun (not that it would be wise to do so).

Yes and for one reason only. If I could buy a card like this for a dollar or three...I'd win it just to have it. I'd never consider it an actual part of my collection nor would it fill any hole or gap in my collection. But it does look nice. But I'd never pay anywhere close to what these people get duped into paying so thankfully, its a problem I'll never have to worry about.
