Book value.

Then again, I don't trade prospects or "high value" cards.

I think SV is the way to go. BV lags behind at least a month and isn't too accurate anyways.

Book value means nothing. Anyone holding onto that feeble old addage is living in the stone age. The reason the book existed was because no one interacted with each so they were not able to get external sale information. Now, everyone has the ability to view all that information in real time with ebay. A guide should have nothing to do with anything in this hobby. What if Wall Street went by beckett pricing... haha.

As for the trading edit:

If I doing a trade, I would look at two things.

1. If the card I am trading for is readily available else where, I would simply look at what both cards sell for.

2. If the card I am trading for is not readily available, I would assign a value of how much I would pay for it and still use sale values for what i'd give up.

Again, I am not familar with the definition of "Book Value" and frankly I don't believe that it is even a known phenomenon.

In other words, Book Value was created for one thing only - to sell magazines.

I place my own value on cards. Some cards with a BV of 100 I won't pay 15 for. Some cards with a BV of 2.50 I'd pay 200 for.

Well, for the record, I'm a Ebay Value person. i just can't imagine trading for a card that "books" for $30 but sells for $2 for a card that books for for $30 and sells for $15.

But, I don't trade much so I don't really have to worry about that as much as others.

Even when I bought and sold cards as a manager at a baseball card shop...I never used Beckett.

I'm glad SV is winning by such a huge margin.

I posted this poll on another semi-large forum and I doubt I get nearly the same result.

Messier,

They should have hired your signature as the Barroness in the new GI JOE film.

For one I feel because TCC has a lot less collectors involved in prospecting than FCB.

If you are trading plain, low-to-medium end GU cards isn't it much easier to use book value?

Are there actual prospectors on TCC? I've always wondered that. Besides the few that are both on there and here, I don't think I know of any true ones.

Anyways, I don't think it's necessarily prospecting but more highend cards in general. I think that was your point and, if so, I concur. TCC is geared towards the lowend collector in gu/midend autos at best, so they don't really care. I'm just curious to see the margin there and compare it to FCB's margin.

TCC has its share of high-end collectors too. One I can think of doesn't care to use ebay or book value.
