[quote="schmidtfan20":27yyqntu]Yankee fan is an expert on 2nd place.
In six innings you'll be one too

6-0 Braves uh-oh. How many runs have the Phillies scored in the past week?

"Yep, the Yankees are in second.....In a division where the Phillies would be in fourth place.

Heck, the AL West is the only other division that the Phillies would be in first place."

funny, Yankee fans were saying the same thing in 08, at least we can beat the Rays! Good luck on the wild card

Who won the World Series last year?

Who has been in the world series the past 2 years straight?[/quote:27yyqntu]

Funny, I seem to recall some pretty confident first place Jays fans last year at the end of June. How did that turn? Fourth Place anyone?

Just so you know, you want to win the World Series, not just get there.

Phillies - Two time World Champions.
Yankees - Twenty-Seven time World Champions.

And if you want to talk appearances.

Phillies - 7 (0.066%)
Yankees - 40 (0.377%)

Who has 27 WS championships?

Who spends billions every year for one championship every 10 years?

Just so you know...

Yankees - 106/27 = One Championship every 3.9259 years.
Phillies - 127/2 = One Championship every 63.5 years.

I'd venture to guess the Yankees have spent less per WS than the Phillies have.

First off try a few million dollars ever summer, not a few billion
Second off, you act like the Phillys don't spend any money. This may be news to you but thet have the 4th highest payroll in the majors, so lets not try and factor money into your argument too much.

I love Yankee fan pretending that what they did in the 30's and 50's applies today. They spend a bizzilion dollars
every year and have very little to show for it. They have 2 rings this century, yet have spent more than any other
team. If you are happy with that then fine, but don't pretent that the wins that Ruth and Mantle and Yogi got
you applies to today. Im not talking ancient history, Im talking today.

oh and good luck holding off the mighty Indians!

...and they win once every 63.5 Years. 2071 here they come!

uh oh, New York, we have a problem

What's the problem?
A-rod hit a grandslam, then cano hit a solo shot, and then swisher scored on a fly out. Sorry but I fail to see what the problem is in New York.

The problem was that the Phillies scored three runs to make the score 6-3 Braves.

uh oh, Philadelphia, we have a problem, 9-3 Braves.

wow are you guys serious? The phillies are so banged up right now the fact that we are even close is remarkable.

Call up Dominic Brown because our only whole in the lineup is Ibanez he has done nothing all year.

For the past 9 days (that both the Yankees and Phillies have played) the Yankees have scored more runs than the Phillies EVERY DAY!

This statement makes no sense.

The team is banged up, but the only HOLE (see that little piece of spelling I did there) in their line up is Ibanez?

If he was the ONLY hole, wouldn't they have scored more runs?

Oh yeah, Braves win ;)

so sorry I spelled the word incorrectly believe it or not I was not too focused on spelling and grammar considering we are on an internet forum but okay...

Whatever you say man but come september you have to know the phillies will be way ahead lol there is no doubt in my mind. The phillies have scored a lot of runs this year just not lately...Like I said they are very banged up. I am not worried but you can have your opinion.

And the Yankees have had...

Posada out.
Granderson out.
Swisher out.
Nick Johnson out.
Mariano Rivera out.
Pettitte out.

And Teixeira and Rodriguez are just starting to hit.

The Yankees have had two or three of, Thames, Winn, Pena or Russo starting at times over the past three weeks.

The Yankees have probably been the hardest hit team injury wise and they still have the second best record in baseball.

There may be no doubt in your mind, but there is doubt in a lot of people's minds.

EDIT: I might add, this is the first time I will agree with vwnut: the Yankees are EASILY the hardest hit team in all of baseball, at least injuries wise.

Just to add a little extra fuel to the fire, I see NEITHER of these teams in the World Series this year anyways. It's all about the Rays and Padres baby :D

HAHAHAHA

Make excuses all you want, but just realize the team in 1st in the NL East had a much rougher stretch in April. 9 straight losses for the Braves, yet on Memorial day, in 1st.
