why can't people just get along who cares what baseball team we are rooting for we are all fans of the game?

Change of heart when you realize your argument is beyond weak?

I never made an argument lol! Read my posts please. I said the phillies are banged up and they will play better soon and than I showed statistics. You are definately confusing me with someone else. Though you did respond with hostility to everything I said.
i dont understand how they are banged up? because rollins and happ are gone oh and dont forget lidge the guy you guys hated last year because he is terrible.. are the braves not banged up? or any team for that matter.. so does that mean everyone is going to start playing better?

Jimmy Rollins- .281 1 MVP 1 SS 3 GG 1 AS

Placido Polanco- .309 2 GG 1 SS 1 AS

Nick Swisher- .249 nothing...

Nick Johnson- .276 nothing...

I took this as an argument that the Phillies have had more injuries than the Yankees.

why didnt you put up homeruns and rbi's? just curious.

LMAO because Rollins and Polanco are number 1 and number 2 hitters and home runs and rbis are unimportant for those spots....
You don't know much about baseball, do you?

I don't know hallgator is that a question or an accusation? Do you really think a leadoff hitter should be driving in runs and hitting homers? LOL Jimmy Rollins actually does that which is the funny thing.

Please hallsgator if you have an opposing argument I would love to hear it. I am anxiously awaiting listening to the crickets, or a rant from someone who has no idea what he is talking about.

I know it makes me sad seeing how angry these people are. You would think that the braves fans would be happy to be in first and the yankees would be happy about winning that world series...

This is thread is a basket full of funny.
RyanHowardCollector6-Seriously dude? Your posts are beyond stupidity and ignorance. And to top it off, you used Batting Average and accolades to "prove" certain players are better than others. And since when are RBIs and HRs unimportant for 1 and 2 hitters? You= ::facepalm::

Didn't the Yankees win the World Series last year?

And jeez, who came in second?

Who cares who won what are YOU on the yankees? Am I on the Phillies? NO...so just because we root for different baseball teams does not mean any of us are any better than the other person. This is why I don't understand the angry responses coming from optimism that the phillies play will improve. If the phils lose the world series sure Ill be upset but I have too many other reasons to be happy to get all worked up the way you guys are.

I never said any player was better or worse than another player. I took one statistic from baseballreference.com. I am tired of hearing angry braves and yankees fans jumping down my throat because I root for the phillies. I have made no negative remarks I have not attacked any individuals so what is with the anger?

IBL

The Phillies had an interesting week, and the point of this thread was to compose some stats.
I have no idea what half of you are arguing. Phillies fans don't need to defend their team in a thread like this. There isn't a whole lot that can be said to defend a team who had an offensive week like they did.

[quote="schmidtfan20":3rorn09w]Nick Johnson?? Swisher?? LOL

Nick Johnson, even though he wasn't hitting, had an OBP of nearly .400

Swisher????

He has 9 HR right now and is hitting .315.

I'd say he was important last year. 29HR 82 RBi from the bottom of the lineup.

You just remember him from the WS, and that was pitiful.

schmidtfan20 said:
Getting healthy would be nice, but the middle three in the line up need to get hitting

Exactly Yankee fans point. They have had some big injuries, and the 3-4 have not been hitting, yet are still 2.5 games better than the Phillies.

I don't know what middle three you are talking about. Swisher/Gardner have been in the two spot and both are hitting over .300. Cano is mashing, and Granderson just came back and is hitting in the two spot.

In that bandbox of a stadium the Yankees play in my grandmother would have 9 HR's. You can't compare Nick Johnson
and Nick Swisher to J Roll and Polanco!
you act like the phillies ballpark isnt hitter friendly.. look at pat burrell for instance dude mashed there goes to the rays and is demoted.. if you wanna bring up ballparks the phillies are very close to the yankees in terms of a hitters friendly ballpark.. its stuppid piece of crap philly fans like you that make would make me care less if their whole team gets hit by a train.

Don't blame us for knowing when to bail on Pat the Bat, we have been pulling off free agent miracles for years now, our
front office knows who is hot and who is not, unlike some teams who just throw their wallets at whomever had the
hot hand the season before (Abreu anyone?)

I love the anger you bring to these message boards, you must either be a Rays fan or a Dodger fan. Sorry

Kevin
im actually a fan of THE FIRST PLACE ATLANTA BRAVES so dont be sorry im sorry for your 2nd places offense after they got caught cheating.[/quote:3rorn09w]

Maybe people will go to some braves games now, instead of the team playing in a half empty stadium.

I'm done arguing with someone so dumb.. 50 homeruns and 150 rbi's... i wonder if you know that only a handful of players have EVER done that..

People always mention Jimmy Rollin's "amazing" power numbers for a lead off hitter, but his OBP (something you want from a lead off hitter) is crap.
