Wow! I really, really like the aggressiveness of the Tigers. Though if Fielder or Cabrera is strictly a DH, I don't think this makes sense. If it means trying to move Cabrera to 3B or LF, then I don't it makes sense. For 2012, I can see the Tigers having Cabrera and Fielder share the 1B/DH roles.

Stupid, from one small market team to another.
You may want to check out the Tigers payroll. While you are at it, check out their attendance the last 5 years. They are not in the top tier market of teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, etc-but they are certainly in that next tier IMO.

BTW, holy freaking wow. As a big Tigers fan, this is absolutely awesome. Wow. Wow.

Um.....WOW  :o

JP - Not much action yet. I don't think the general collecting public has heard yet.

.....Damnit....I was hoping he'd go to Washington and stay out of the AL....But instead, winds up in the AL Central...Eh, whatever, good for him and the Tigers.

Um, Detriot is not a small market.

LMAO!! Smaller than, NY, LA, and Chicago and anything in PA. I am just saying, Chrysler 300 commercials do not make Detroit a large market.

Detriot>Pittsburg.

Detriot is the 8th largest baseball market. Milwaukee is the smallest. Your statement that he's going from one small market to another is factually incorrect. By a lot.

Actually 12th largest with a baseball team.

1) New York-Newark-Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA - 21,976,224
2) Los Angeles-Long Beach-Riverside, CA - 17,775,984
3) Chicago-Naperville-Michigan City, IL-IN-WI - 9,725,317
4) Washington-Baltimore-Northern Virginia, DC-MD-VA-WV - 8,211,213
5) Boston-Worcester-Manchester, MA-RI-NH - 7,465,634
6) San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA - 7,228,948
7) Philadelphia-Camden-Vineland, PA-NJ-DE-MD - 6,382,714
8) Dallas-Fort Worth, TX - 6,359,758
9) Houston-Baytown-Huntsville, TX - 5,641,077
10) Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Gainesville, GA-AL - 5,478,667
11) Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Miami Beach, FL - 5,463,857
12) Detroit-Warren-Flint, MI - 5,410,014

Some of those markets are divided among two teams. Something else to consider is that it's not all about the market. It's also about the loyalty. Plus Detroit is a major player in other states markets since so many people have left Michigan recently.

They'd be 13th, actually as Toronto (as of 2006) was 5.55MM

I wonder what this means for Castellanos future now. There's a good chance Cabrera goes back to 3rd after this season. I wouldn't be surprised to see them pull another move with Castellanos as bait now.

has nothing to do with small/big market

Mich Llitch is 1 of the richest owners in sports. Owns Red Wings as well and believe owner and founder of Little Caesers.

He is an old man 83, and wants to win a championship.

Way to drop the ball Milwaukee.

Have fun letting Aramis Ramirez carry you for the first 50 games of the season.

I'm sorry, but there is almost 0 chance Miggy goes to 3rd. He would be awful there. I suppose you could try him over there, but that would be a big mistake IMO.
