For you Brewers fans, they will now receive the Tigers' 1st round pick this year (#27 overall), as well as a Sandwich pick (#38).

I'm glad he went to a team I don't hate, and the extra draft picks will be nice.

If anybody is looking for a Prospect Premieres BGS 9.5 hit me up.

Same here, probably my favorite AL team. As for the draft picks Im sure the Brewers will draft another pitcher that wont live up to his potential.

Disappointed the Cubs didn't make a last minute run at Fielder. Looks like a 100 loss season might be on the horizon. No impact bat in the Cubs lineup, will be lucky to score 3 runs a game.

Eff this.

Edit: Swear filter didn't work. So I changed it.

**** this.
Seriously?

You want a team that is finally trying to run their organization the right way to go out and get an albatroos of a contract like this?

You don't need a $24 million/year first baseman to win.

Not necessarily, I am just saying they need to go out and get a bat for the middle of the lineup. I am just a bit frustrated. I am sure someone will have some smartass comment, but I am just really tired of watching my favorite team lose. I just have a hard time wrapping my head around the idea of a wasted season.

Fielder would have been well worth the money at Wrigley. That ballpark is built for dudes to hit lots of home runs, especially if the wind is blowing out like it does frequently. They aren't playing in Oakland or Safeco. Wrigley is a small park.

The Cubs need to win the fan base back, there is nothing to be excited about right now, and in my opinion Fielder is one of the most marketable players in baseball right now. For whatever reason, a lot of people have a fascination with over-weight baseball players who hit a ton of home runs. People go crazy for stuff like this. Don't ask me why, as I don't have the answer for that one.

I see your point, but there is no way the Cubs contend for at least three years, even with Fielder, so that's $70mil down the tubes.

I'm more excited for this upcoming season than I've ever been. The fact they didn't sign Pujols, Fielder, Darvish, et al tells me they are serious about righting the ship.

I agree it would be more entertaining to have Fielder on the team, but for that money I'd rather have Cespedes and Soler and a few others. It isn't about entertainment; it's about winning. Free agents put the finish touches on a team looking to make a title run, but for now the Cubs need to build up their roster.

Holy crap. 9 years?

I don't think that's too bad - takes him to 36 or 37. I wonder if he doesn't exhibit declining skills and goes for his next FA contract, what playing in Comerica Park may do to his stats that could cost him some money.

He'll be good for 20-25 HR's in that park.
He'll knock some out in Chicago. Don't know enough about Minnesota's new park. They can fly out if KC too if it's not too humid.

I have not been able to watch Fielder play much beyond the occasional home run on Baseball Tonight. Does he hit the ball to all fields? Or is he a pull hitter?

He might want to become a pull hitter...

He sorta is as far as HRs go. His spray chart looks like the reverse of Cabrera's. There's no doubt he wil hit less HR this coming year. Just by last years chart he would have around 9-10 fewer HRs in Comerica.
