Probably answered before, but, seller protection to Taiwan..

I searched paypal site and can't find any specific info on this. What type of protection do I have on a sale to Taiwan? Can items be insured? Paypal says items must be insured if more than $250 in value for seller protection. My item is over that. Does anyone have the knowledge/experience to know what do I have to do in order to be fully protected? Normally, I wouldn't even ship outside the US, but I might for the money here.

Not just insured, but sig confirmed too. Have fun with that one. I can't remember the price from previous threads, but it's pricey.

They do require proof of signature that can be tracked online for items over $250, which means USPS is OUT OF THE QUESTION since they do not provide online signature confirmation for international packages.

You'd have to use UPS, Fedex, or DHL, which will likely cost you an arm and a leg.

Last time I shipped an item worth more than $100 to the Far East, I used International Priority Mail. Cost more than $30.00, comes with some insurance. I don't remember off hand how much insurance, but you can buy more if needed. This postage includes a tracking #, and signature confirmation.

Edit: You can also use Registered Mail, $!5, and can buy insurance for the package also.

I believe the last time I used express mail with USPS. It was $25, plus maybe $3 more for $400 insurance. Card got there in under a week. It is the way I would go.

To be completely honest, there may not be a safe way. Once a package leaves the US, you're really at the mercy of how the destination country handles the mail. They may not be sophisticated enough to provide you with a signature confirmation. I don't know if Taiwan falls into that category.

I recently shipped a package to Bahrain via Priority International, and once it left the US I didn't get any updates. Fortunately the seller already left feedback, but it could have been messy.

I thanked you all for the advice and information. I think I will just bypass the offer and wait to sell to someone else who lives in the US. I don't need the headaches and while the person's feedback is good with other US sellers on high dollar items, for me, it's just not worth it for the $20 or $30 I might be leaving on the table. Actually, I provide free shipping on all items, so by the sound of what you are all saying, I may spend $20 or $30 to ship it anyway, so maybe I'm not really losing anything at all.
