I think you have to temper their rankings with their reason for the rankings. I don't think you can say holy crap Teheran is low without reading why they have him so low.

I think you have to temper their rankings with their reason for the rankings. I don't think you can say holy crap Teheran is low without reading why they have him so low.

They think so many guys who have command problems are going to be in the bullpen, that's what I don't like about them. Young pitchers often have that and get better, look at Moore for example. I'm sure if they were around when Miguel Cabrera was putting up .704 OPS's when he was 18 that they said he would probably not be a regular as a ceiling.

Also why the love for Fernando Martinez at 55. I've seen this guy play quite a bit and all I can say is his ceiling is David Dejesus with poor defense.

I personally like the Lists that PP put together. They don't "fall in love" with prospects like BA does and flat tell you how they feel about these players. They are no afraid to put a Gary Sanchez in the 70's and bump Wilin Rosario to #10.

I am interested to see 3 years from now, who's list was more accurate, BA or PP. I have an itching feeling, it might be PP.

I also think PP ranks on floor as much as ceiling. So, whereas BA ranks on highest ceiling, PP takes into account how likely a player is to ever reaching that ceiling. So, some toolsy players who are a ways away from reaching their ceiling will be much lower w PP. Just a different system of ranking. I'm pretty sure they had Mike Minor higher than most other systems last year.

I actually agree with this. It seems that this is a different kind of list. I personally disagree with some of the rankings, but it's refreshing to see a list that gets away from the norm a little bit. Interesting to take floor into account as well as ceiling.

I made my own top 50 list based on performance and potential, but I think it would be fun to redo it taking different things into consideration. For example, a list of who I think will have ultimately been the best Major Leaguers when it's all said and done would be cool.
