I thought for a second you might be playing off the new Pearl Jam song:

"When your cards triiiiiimed let me punch a little whole in it".

Anyways, thats bada$$ on the sellers behalf. I applaud him for what he did.

i would have just had it slabbed authentic....most people know that if it they opt not for a grade that it is low grade, trimmed, or altered.
I think that would have been honest and you wouldn't have a hole in it....not criticizing what this honorable person did, jmo

edit to add...i just realized there are people that would probably crack it out of the slab and relist raw...nevermind...

It's a honorable move and, frankly, the only way the seller could probably put the card back into circulation without having a guilty conscience.

All of the disclosure in the world doesn't save the next guy from a seller who fails to disclose.

I'm starting to REALLY dislike this "hobby"

For those who may remember the 2001 SPX RC Auto was a redemption found in a product called 2001 UPPER DECK ROOKIE UPDATE BB.

The redemption card was the actual card with a sticker placed ove the front of it, and yes, you guessed it, a HOLE punched in the bottom right.

There is a chance that this was a redemption card pulled AFTER the experation date, with a signature added later, after removing the sticker.

More unthinkable is that the nice people at Upper Deck may have kept the redemptions that were mailed in, keep in mind that this was BEFORE on-line redemptions, and there are some 1000+ cards somewhere.

Lets see if more and more cards with holes in them trickle out.

Just a tought as NOTHING seems to be trustworthy in this hobby today.

While I don't disagree with your basic premise re: the trustworthiness of much of the card business today, I noticed on the card in question that it appears to be serial numbered as well as autographed. I'm not positive, but I can't imagine the stickered redemption cards also had crash numbering on them, did they? Not that it would be impossible to fake this too, but it seems like the issue of matching the font of the numbers would add another level of complexity to the type of counterfeit you're talking about.

Nope. I pulled one of those redemptions and owned a few more, the hole was MUCH smaller.
