Opinions?

Does the auto look legit? And does it look like it has a slight diamond cut to it? Maybe its cause the scan is crooked

Thinking about buying it

My opinion, is I do not think anyone could possibly make heads or tails of what you ask by the scan. However, why would you even question the auto? Do you think someone erased the previous one and redid it??

People have erased the numbering, not the auto.

And the card does look like it was cut funny.

Someone mentioned it on BMB I think. Not sure why, but Id guess if the auto was smudged, or fading it might be easier to erase the auto and resign it than take a low auto subgrade. No third party grader would think twice about authenticating it, regardless of what the auto looked like

why erase the numbering?

To make it a better number and thus more valuable. 1/500, 5/500, 500/500, etc

btw do you have AIM? Theres some script or something preventing me from opening your PMs

I have seen those Pujols dutch auction autos though. That auto looks like a combo of his old and new one combined. Since it is PSA and if it is proved to be the real one, than I guess get it. Who knows though lmao?

The numbering is done w/ a Sharpie so erasing isn't that hard at all.

so do people erase autos then on cards, especially premium rookies and hard to gets, if the auto is smudged, and just write a new one themselves?
that is really sketchy

I can guarantee you 100% that there are 2001 Bowman Chrome Pujols autos and 2001 SPx Pujols autos where the autos were wiped clean and resigned via forgery. As BGS and PSA do not authenticate the autos upon submission, there are many that have been slabbed with forged autos. This was because there were many autos that were awful from these issues, particularly the SPx. Look at any of the other autographs from this set and you can tell that the pen used was not good and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a solid, fluid autograph on their glossy surface. There were no 10 autograph grades for the first few years of submissions (mostly 8s and 9s), but now you can find them as they have been forged with Lumocolor pens which will not bubble.

I cannot tell you which serial numbers were victims of this atrocity, but I have seen copies of both cards without autos. The people that did this trim cards, search packs, and reseal packs. They are from Atlanta.

There may be others that do this as well, but I can only speak for what I have seen.

Absolute shame. I heard of a guy in the Jersey area who could do this and get away with it on Rookie Premiere Autos but I hear He's living behind bars as I type.

I remember back when 2001 BC came out, and a ton of the autographs were imperfect. I can't recall seeing an imperfect one in years...

I've never heard so, and don't have any reason to suspect. The Topps Traded Autographs never really had issues as far as smudging.
