Any ideas on the BIN price?[/quote:3cv048g3]

I would put it at 1000.00 and field BO's. You will get decent money for it and you will get alot of offers.[/quote:3cv048g3]
As crazy as some may think that number is, I completely agree.

It's a 1/1 prototype from Topps created during his rookie season, the ultimate oddball for the Ichiro collector.

I think you shoukld build up some hype first before you sell it. Make people aware of it.

How? I'm already feeling a little like I'm spamming it right now, though that certainly wasn't my intention when I started the thread.

Just post it on different websites (sportscard and ichiro fan sites). Unless people are aware of it, it will get a low bid/offer as no one will know its on eBay. Push comes to shove, contact Chris Olds at Beckett and see if he can do a write up on it.

I think it will get plenty of exposure on Ebay. As a player collector myself I check Ebay 2 to 3 times a day for new listings and believe me if this Griffey or Frank Thomas you would be getting all kinds of offers. I would imagine the Ichiro collectors do the samething?
BTW Beckett will probably blow you off. If you look in the SCD big book there is an Ichiro 95 Collectors Choice card that books for a 1000 so I
would put this card in that territory.

Economy isn't like it use to be. People don't check eBay as often as they use to.

Now you guys have me thinking greedily!

I put the Giambi up with a 1000 BIN, and sold it for 375.

did it sell the first time it listed?

No, I listed it 4 times, I think. It got offers each time, but they were all pretty low. The same buyer made an offer each listing, raising it each time. I was happy with 375.

This card is very different, to be sure

Contact BGS and see if they will slab it. Seriously.

Let them know your provenance, and clearly they'll see the Topps logo etc and maybe they throw it in a BGS Authentic slab for you.

I think the card is will over $200 with the Japanese bidders, along with some serious money backed Ichiro collectors here in the State.

You know, I hadn't even thought about that. I've never sent a card in for slabbing before. Do you think I should call? Do they take inquiries into stuff like this, or do I have to send it in and see what they say?

i can check on it for you

That would be great, Chris. It would certainly be worth the cost of slabbing if they would do it.

Re: Question about possibly selling an unknown prototype

I would put a huge BIN/BO on it. It's clear the card states it was printed in 2001. Einstein's theories are below:

e=mc2
or
super rare Ichiro RC= huge $

WOW, after only 40 minutes the first offer came. Wonder if it's from someone here? I don't recognize the user name...

Re: Question about possibly selling an unknown prototype

So you know..Since it's not stamped 1/1 you cannot prove it's the only one and if someone reports it, ebay will pull it.

Good Luck !!!!

On a similar note, I pulled a 2001 Ichiro /1500 from a UD Japanese pack last nite !

*edited to add, I would of started with the same BIN you used.

You think I should remove the 1/1?

Thanks for posting that Ichiro site, I emailed that one and another that is linked there.

Re: Question about possibly selling an unknown prototype

I think the description is very clear stating that it is the only of its kind in existence, therefore "1/1" is valid. The key is obviously the fact that the "1/1" indication is not misleading, and therefore 'keyword spamming."

That said, I don't think eBay would have any reason to pull this. Of course, eBay sometimes pulls the trigger without reading a line of description.

I'd let it ride. If ebays pulls it, you get your fees back. I'd save the user names with offers as you'll lose that info so you can make them aware of the new auction.
