from a fantasy standpoint, i want to know what sean payton has against pierre thomas. hes their obvious best back, was named the starter before his injury for a reason. today they have 3 rushing TDs inside the 5 yard line, and they go to mike bell, reggie bush, and heath evans. WTF!!!

Letting everyone have a shot at TD's. Thomas had his on 4th and 1 on the 1 and came up short.

There's really nothing "to get at". Erica's lack of football knowledge and assinine predictions elicit a response. And then when she gets called out for them, all she can do is fire back 4th grade level type insults.

The only way Reggie found the endzone when it was an obvious pass play and you had all the defenders 10 yards into the endzone......take that out he had 8 yards on 5 carries. and Bell had 15 rushes and 34 yards.

Thomas had 15 rushes and 72 yards......a 5 yard a rush average......

Snyper WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? ::facepalm::

Thomas's 4th and 1 he was on the endzone line but he had 4 people standing in his way, if he swept to the corner he would have scored easily.

Bell converted his 1st 4th down attempt for a TD. They should have gone back to him for this one. His leaping ability serves him well in the red zone.

You mean when he got stuffed on 3rd and 1 the next quarter?

Yep, that play. They should have gone back to him again on that. Or even Evans. Would have been more effective than Thomas's running display on 4th down. It better suits their running styles down there. Thomas, like you mentioned in another thread, likes to use his blockers, and when they were held in place, he didn't make an athletic move, or a real power move to get the ball in the end zone.

Thomas' numbers were actually very impressive in short yards on 3rd and 4th down last year......Payton will still use him because he isn't a train wreck like Bush and doesn't have two left hands like Bell to catch the ball.

What the heck is wrong with how the team uses all of their backs? Thomas is effective in how they use him. Is it you just need him to be more because you hope it cashes in for you? He's a decent back. Why not let it be at that?

We'll know soon enough what kind of workload Thomas gets near the goal line in the future. They don't face too many imposing defenses in the upcoming weeks, so it might be a non-factor. However, as you've seen on the stat sheet, Payton has the RB/FB positions pretty well spread out in terms of carries and touches on a week to week basis. He knows his terrible luck at keeping RB's healthy, so he keeps fresh players out there so they don't strain or pull anything. Which means that power-first guys like Bell and Evans have their roles increase as the Saints close on the end zone, as Thomas and Bush do the majority of the work between the 20's.
