Ran Into a Certified Nutcase on Beckett

For those piling on to the "certified nutcase" I'm going to add my recent--and uncompleted--transaction experience with Card Magnet/Brennan.

June 12: I send Paypal
From Brennan June 12: I will mail out tomorrow and PM you the delivery confirmation number.

June 16 me: Got that DC number? Thanks.
June 16 Brannan: I will have to get it Sunday night. I'm away from my house for the weekend.

June 19 Brennan: Sorry I didn't get your dc to you. I was away this weekend...I will have a dc# to you within the next hour or two (it's currently 7:00 pm est).

June 20 Brennan: My local PO...often doesn't scan items upon receipt, so look for it to pop up in Johnstown or Pittsburgh over the next day or so.

I check the DC number and the package hasn't been accepted anywhere.

June 20 Brennan: I'm sorry I didn't make things clear in that last PM. I did not mail it out then, I only printed up the slip for the package. I just got it to the post office today.

I want my card too, I'm just more patient than pops.

EDIT: Also, this isn't a deal for commons but I certainly don't think that matters too much. A deal is a deal.

Exactly my point. Sounds like someone is too busy or too much of a flake to complete any deal.
And 35000 posts and 20+ feedback would make me think he knows how things work.
Calling someone's mom over $9 BV cards....sure that might be going too far but think about it this way...if a person is willing to flake/burn/whatever over that kind of trade then what else are they doing? Maybe mommy needs a call so she can smack her kid a good one.

Just a thought. And anyone defending his actions isn't worth trading with either IMO.

I think a few people here are misinterpreting why I posted this. I'm taking responsibility for shipping late. My issue is that within five days, this person found out my name, my mother's phone number, , and threatened to contact family and friends. Five days; sometimes not even enough for a first class piece of mail to make it to its destination if it moves slowly. I'm not upset they wanted their card and were upset that there was a delay, that's understandable. It's how they handled it in such a creepy and crackpot way.

What Rico posted is true, though there are a few pieces I would like to add. He didn't post that I offered to give him a partial refund on top of sending the card to make up for my delay. I did not get it out on the 13th as I said I would, nor did I get it out on the 14th. I then was away from the 15th to the 17th (Fri - Sun), and had a medical procedure on the 18th that held me up until the 20th (which I provided some proof to). It' still not a good excuse, I know.

Yes, I fudged up, but I offered to compensate him for the inconvenience, and I think that counts for something. The deal was for a $175 card purchase. Rico has every right to be upset; all I can do at this point is apologize and have made the offer to compensate him for the inconvenience.

Everyone slips up in life, and we often see cases of late shipping around here. Heck, even the guy in charge of this site has. We're all human.

I've just been terribly off my game recently, and I've let that sour a few deals. No excuse, it's all on me, and please don't think I'm trying to deflect any of that blame by posting about the extreme measures that troubled me in the original post.

Just an update, it looks like the origin scan was accepted on the 25th. I paid paypal June 12th. Hopefully I'll get the card tomorrow or Friday. Never dealing with Brennan again.

Just to fill you in, it was dropped off before the 25th at my local PO in Windber. They apparently didn't scan it (which they rarely do) and sent it ahead to Johnstown.

As an update on the original post, they have since received the second package I mailed that included some extras to make up for my initial shipping delay.

I just got done reading this whole post. Non of you guys topped this quote. I don't know if he's serious or not, I actually jumped up from my seat laughing really loud at this. My dog that was sleeping next to my chair jumped up and ran away from me, my wife watching TV a couple of feet away from me got scared and my two boys from another room playing their Xbox paused the game and came out to see if I was alright. Whew..... I'm okay now, just still smiling..... Thanks!
