He is my favorite Jamestown Expos player. Sad to see him retire. Maybe more cards that picture him as an Expo will show up on ebay now.

Who knows if we will ever see such an amazing stretch like him with the Dbacks. One of the best ever.

He is my 2nd favorite pitcher of all-time (luckily for my #1 all-time fave that Randy is retiring, as Johnson is probably the only pitcher who could break Nolan's K record)! I think Nolan Ryan's strikeout record is now safe but baseball is losing a sure-fire HOF'er in:
Randy "the Dove Killer" Johnson  :D

The question now...

Does he go in as:

Mariners: Where he really came to as a pitcher, winning 1 Cy Young (3 other times in the Top 3) and had two of his best seasons ever ('95 18-2, 2.48 ERA, '97 20-4, 2.28 ERA)

or

Diamondbacks: Where won 4 Cy Youngs, had one of his best seasons ever ('02 24-5, 2.32 ERA) and struck out 300+ 4 times and of course, won a World Series.

It's hard for me to say anything other than Seattle...but you can't argue about his time in Arizona.

Of course, how could I forget. Where are the Yankee fans to defend this!!

So very sad to see him go

It figures, I started to buy a lot of his stuff for when he got to 5,000 Ks... my luck is sh$t. A truly outstanding career by an amazing pitcher.
might see a little bump in prices when he gets into the HOF

I could see him as a Mariner or a Diamondback. I thought he said he wanted to go in as a MAriner (Maybe because when he really started to become an ACE and won his first cy young_. However, he did accomplish so much as a diamondback.

Or as a Giant where he finally got Win number 300 :P :P (joke).

as much as I'd like to see him go in as a Mariner, it makes the most sense for him to go in as a D'Back. Hats off to a great career, RJ.

It's sad watching all my childhood heroes retire. Clemens & Johnson are now officially replaced by Lincecum & Felix

Not to completely discredit the above statement...but Linecum and Felix have a long, long way to go before we can say that they are replacing Johnson and Clemens.

In all likelihood, we'll never see another pitcher with the prolific K statistics that Randy Johnson put up over his career.

As many of you know, he has been my favorite for decades, and when I couldn't make it to Cooperstown 4 years ago, I figured I would hold out until Johnson's induction day.

The dude was a flat-out strikeout king.

This is true. Nolan Ryan may have more total Ks, but Johnson had them more frequently than any pitcher in baseball history.

I agree, we shall see how they do the rest of their careers.

This is true, they do have a long way. Lincecum JUST needs 3 more CYs ;)

If Lincecum keeps it up he may have similar (not saying better/overmatching) K statistics as Johnson.
