I would just like to add that the Rangers payroll is 55 million...Arod is making 33 mill..the yanks payroll is 207 mill...Mo Rivera makes more than the entire starting rotation of The Rangers

The combined payroll of the Red Sox, Mets and Cubs is $443,541,275. Where did that get them? Third, Fourth, and fifth place respectivly.

And the Yankees payroll is what.. $207 Million? And what did it get them? They advanced a little further than the 3 teams you listed.... but its the same as a poker tournament... you last longer than a donkey... but if you dont cash.. what good does that do??/ just meant you wasted more time in the tourney.... still the same result as the donkey. Yanks had the same result as the Cubs, Mets and Red Sox.... sitting at home watching the World Series.

BYE BYE, YANKEES! :D :D :D :D :D

yeah yeah yeah.

I don't know, but I'd rather lose in the ALCs than be a third place team. JMO.
That trird place team has had a tough season with injuries and such. But they are younger (Lester, Buchholz, Dice-K+Papelbon 29-30, Pedrioa, Ellsbury, + a bunch of great prospects) than the ageing Yankees. + Won twice as many WS than the yanks in the last 10 years, a much more important timeframe for comparison than the 10 years before that.

And in the last three years the Yankees have won ? more world series. zomg.
All that $, i would call that mediocre. It is really the last 10 years though - not the last three.

I foresee a real shootout next year for the AL East crown. I can easily see the Sox back in the hunt along with the Rays and the Jays will make a run. Give Buck a couple years to get the O's in shape and they will be contenders too. The Yankees are no longer the jewels of the East. The decade of mediocrity will continue in 2011.
This should make for some exciting baseball in 2011.

Great game, the whole bar was hating on the Yankees. What a great year for bandwagon teams to take a fall. Girardi gets too much credit for what the Yanks have accomplished as did Torre for the most part. With all that talent how can you not have taken the championship more than you have? With the caliber of players they have had for the last decade, how can they only have 2 championships in the last decade? And nine years apart at that.

Just goes to show ya money doesn't buy everything. It takes heart, determination, and drive. All of which, the Yankees haven't displayed, nor will they until they learn to overlook their paychecks and play the game for what it is, for the love of baseball.

I love everyone complaining about the money aspect. No one ever looks at it from a business perspective

Why not complain about teams like the Pirates/Marlins who generate a ton of money and pocket it instead of putting it back onto the field. The Yankees can be deemed greedy for spending it on players, but those teams get away with what they do?

What would you rather them do? Pocket the revenues and be looked upon as greedy?

The Yankees only spend only 46% of their revenues.

Out of the top eight revenue earning teams, the Yankees spend the smallest percentage.

If the Yankees spent the same percentage of their revenues as the Detroit Tigers, they would be able to add 80 Million to their payroll.

I'm sure plenty of fans would kill for their owners to pay what is necessary to field the best team possible.

How can you blame the Yankees for giving their fans the best show they can buy?

Last time I checked it wasn't against any rules.

EDIT: and no, I do not have any bitterness towards tonight's loss. The Rangers clearly outplayed us, they possessed the swag that we carried through the playoffs last year and look fantastic.

What does Girardi get credit for?

Blowing multiple games and being the worst manager in baseball?

I want the Yankees to resign him tonight....so they can immediatly turn around and fire him. Maybe the cubs want a bench coach.

Oh please, had the Yankees won you would be singing his praises. Your just bitter because they lost and it's easier to blame him. All season long you were one of their biggest homers and never had anything negative to say about him.

In 06, they spent 80% of their revenues on contracts and in 07 it was 73%. I haven't found any new numbers yet.

The Riverlands.
Congrats to the Rangers. The Yanks got beat fair and square. There is no other way to put it. At least we got further than Boston and that is all I care about as a Yankee fan. The Yanks do have the highest payroll, but money does not win championships. I just hope my Yankees can net Cliff Lee this off season! It is going to be fun with all the big names on the market.

Will it happen, probably not, but would I count that situation out. no.

Girardi, Cubs. Cubs, Girardi.

Have fun!

No matter what happens, I want Girardi GONE!

Clueless Joe #1, do you want Clueless Joe #2's job?

Hey Girardi, I heard the Cubs need a new manager.

Is that true?

Girardi trades in one POS for another POS.
You'd think with the best bulpen ERA in baseball that there would be someone besides Mitre and Gaudin out there.
Jeeeeez.
Girardi, is that the Cubs I hear calling? Maybe the Mets?

I blame Cashman for listening to the ********* that said "sign these guys to HUGE contracts".
I blame Girardi for blowing games with his stupid decisions to leave guys in or take guys out too soon.
But most importantly and sincerely......
I blame the players on the team for sucking it up so horribly. They didn't play like champions but rather like a bunch of prima donas
