Found this recently, had been tucked away.
I never have found a Griffey gold or platinum for sale, but I got this beauty DIRT cheap! I loved SP Authentic's look in the late 90's!

The one on the left is the glowing version. Basically, if you can make out any type of star in the background, it is not the glowing version.

kinda hafta agree with the sentiments on page 124. it seems this thread is becoming diluted with a bunch of the "junk" inserts of the 90s. anwyays, my examples of cards recently talked about:

1996 stadium club extreme players parallels: back in 02 or 03 beckett had the bagwell gold extreme priced at 120.00 then in the next monthly beckett it was a 12.00 card, currently i think it lists for 8.00 but beckett=bs. a $100 drop in one month?
96stadium.jpg

1996 upper deck diamond destiny: seen about 3-4 of the silvers and only 2 of the golds
96dd.jpg

2000 crown royale rainbow: beckett dealer fairfield had bulk of the limited /144 and premiere date /121, so i bought like 10 of each and ALL were actually serial numbered.

topps stars and steel, 1998, 1999: ive owned about 4 of the 1999 gold holodomed somehow. they are a lot easier than the 1998, which are just listed as gold holographic and which i just got in from burbank (first one ive ever seen). still need the 1999 gold

Okay...then you answered my question a little more clearly because I have the one on the very bottom of your topps stars and steel scans.I never could figure out which version I had.

As for diluting the thread with not so rare cards...I think thats not a big deal .I am sure everyone has been able to look in this thread from time to time and see something they didn;t even know existed until they see it here or even things people have seen but never knew the name of the set they came from so they never were able to search for them.So trust me...its very good and extremely helpful.

As far as I am concerned...keep posting away no matter the rarity or value!!!

Those are pretty hard to track down I'd imagine. Most of them are probably stored away somewhere.I know some of the Bagwell cards handed out at the National are a pretty expensive buy but I have nabbed a few of them.It seems they just aren't as popular at least with bagwell collectors.

while the pacific fanfest stuff is listed in beckett i lump those in with the "aftermarket make you own card" cards. donruss/playoff also did a bunch of those except even lower numbered usually to only 5 like the atlantic city national or chicago national crap

+1 and then some.
To me it's like when you went to a show open a pack and had the dealer rep emboss it right there for you. It seems like you could get 1 card per so many packs.

Yes they did. I don't agree with you though. If you collect promo and sample cards, these are the exact same. Promotional items handed out. They are tracked and numbered so they aren't a "make your own card". But therein lies the beauty of collecting. You can make your own goals. I personally think these are a required group.

I'm only missing one of the Chicago Collections and I have the complete set (all serial #'d/5). Just need the Absolute Memorabilia.

I don't like the way they serial numbered a few of them. The ones where they stamped 05/05 on the top of the Chicago emblem on the front as the serial number made me think they were some random date for awhile.
