Someone asked about the 1997 Pinnacle Coins many pages back!
I think that the Silver Coins were EXTREMELY hard to get!
I was able to get one, though, from Ebay and sent it in for grading.
Let me know what you guys think and, also, do you know the Odds of getting a silver coin in the packs?

1997 Pinnacle Mint Collection Coins Silver (my PSA 9 is shown. Coin is made out of pure silver)
Front:

oh, yeah, Joe, go ahead and use this pic for the master set!

I preferred the silvers from 98 since they came with a certificate... (97 and 98 shown)

i like the 98s better also but ive never seen either bagwell silver coins. did the 97 silver coins not come with a paper certificate of authenticity? in general the 97 silver coins seems more difficult to find than the 98s. does anyone have a solid gold coin. they issued redemptions for them and with the bankruptcy would any be floating out there????

also that is a sweet 1998 pinnacle mirror artist proofs 1/1. i have had the pudge and miguel tejada. both are in japan now and i wished i had saved the pics

Just bought the '98 solid silver coin of A-Rod. Coincidentally, the first time I have seen one. I'm sure I paid more than it would fetch at auction but like I said, never seen it before. Paid 70. But it's one of my many needs and you know how we player collectors are.

$70 for arod seems pretty good seeing as I paid $46 for the jones in an auction.

Nice haul! I really like the Piazza Mirror Inverse and the McGriff/Thomas All-star card...the ARod Score A+ cards are very cool as well.

Good going!

Yeah, the Piazza mirror inverse was the first inverse I have seen in person. The McGriff/Thomas is "1 of 10,000" but I didn't find any info in Beckett.

The Arod cards are sweet and I was probably most excited about those two.

What is with the 90s insert craze? Not saying this to knock the 90s insert collectors, nor am I being sarcastic. I just don't understand why they are so popular. This is the biggest thread on FCB!

You just haven't caught the bug yet trademhigh!

I think that it is the fact that it takes many of back to when the hobby was fun and the inserts were neat. very few GU and the diecut inserts and the nicely designed cards were most popular.

Then you have player collectors that may have just started collecting players that had some nice inserts in the 90s that have to go back to pick those up (thenumberonemetfan collecting Travis Lee, etc).

Just my thought.

Thanks for your post! I guess I can see how they are popular. But, I still don't understand how they have become so popular seemingly overnight. I don't think they were popular a year ago, were they?
Also, can you tell me if this card is worth anything? It's sort of like a diecut, but then again, it isn't. I'll try and find a scan on ebay, or scan tomorrow.

They were but it took someone starting a post to make everyone realize they weren't alone! Biggest factor for me really is card design. The companies don't even try anymore. Everything from the last 5-8 years looks exactly the same to me

I can't remember the exact story about the McGriff/Thomas card...they were a FanFest giveaway though.

As for the '90s inserts, I see no more competition than there ever was...just more people talking about it.

Trademhigh- The Lord of the Diamonds was inserted into 1999 topps series 1. They have a "crown" diecut on the top. Not really all that valuable, but a nice looking card.

Brewer Andy- First off, cards went out this morning. Thanks! And I agree. Card companies have absolutely no creativity any more, and we still buy them like a bunch of lemmings.

BunchofBull- I think that you are probably seeing more of the 90s inserts on ebay. supply/demand at it's finest.
