Anybody got an idea of what this might be worth. Its a sample version.Sample is stamped right across it and the stamping is embossed.

IMG.jpg

I too picked up this sample card in hopes of it being as rare as the normal gold glove version.

Jeter00ParamountFieldersChoiceGoldS.jpg

I picked up the Walker today as well. The thing about these cards sample or the original, how many have you seen of your guy? I know I've only seen two, the sample I won today and another one that wasn't numbered and did not say sample but was a card that Pacific kept for replacements (that I own as well). So either way, the way I look at it, they are rare. Look at the completed sales of these things from tonight, the Griffy sold for over $250, looks like others know these are rare. I'm glad I picked one up. I doubt I'll see another very soon.

S' what I am hoping.I have never seen another one but I have only been in the game for about 3 solid years now so I don't have as much time in the hobby under my belt as some of ya'll do.

Question...the Griffey sample version sold for $250?Or just the Griffey gold serial numbered to /10?

I think the sample sold for $250. I'm glad I talked the seller into letting me buy the McGwire for $40 off ebay.

My bad it sold for $215. and yes it was the sample version
http://cgi.ebay.com/KEN-GRIFFEY-JR-...ards?hash=item5ad2a2b7f1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

The Ripken Jr. sold for $117.

One thing I didn't like too much was that the seller was touting these as numbered to /10. I didn't see any numbering on there and I do recall that the numbered non-sample versions had their numbers on the front of the card so I bid knowing it was not serial numbered but I am not sure if he had cause to make that claim. In the Bagwell's case it was a double whammy because its number 10 of the set. ::facepalm::

Okay...here's one for you guys:

1991 and 1992 Strato Matic.I picked these up off ebay for next to nothing.Figured they would be cool to have. Now I already have the 1997 version which beckett lists but I wanted to know if anyone else has these for their player. It doesn't look fake to me either. The edges are rough like they were torn away from a perforated edge and they seem legit.I was just not aware Bagwell had anything for Strato Matic back in 91 or 92.I wasn't even aware they had a strato matic game back then either.Anyone else got any of these? If so...how rare are they?

Two different cards(I just have them placed together).

Also...does anyone have any info on how this game was played? Is it like some sort of Fantasy baseball game or what?

From the 1990's, I have several stat-based cards of Grace, including:

APBA (Hard to Find)
Cadaco (Common)
Pursue the Pennant (Rare)
Replay Games (Rare)
Status Pro (Hard to Find)
Strat-O-Matic (Common)
Strat-O-Matic All-Star (Common)

Scarcity is based on my own observations.

Kind of fun oddballs to look for. The 1997 Strat-O-Matic All-Stars are the nicest of the bunch, since they have player photos:

97STRATOMATICALLSTAR.jpg

Here's a complete Strat-O-Matic game. Most of these were dice rolling games where the number rolled corresponded to an action (strikeout, hit, HR, etc.). Usually, two people rolled the dice, playing nine innings, just like a real game. There are defensive and offensive actions, you had to compare the two rolls to determine the batter's outcome. Cards are adjusted for the individual player's talent level.

And then, video games were invented ;)

Cool.Looks like it would have been fun.I am kinda old school and like board games anyways.

Question though: Did each game come with a whole slew of cards for different players(i.e. maybe the regular roster for each team) or could you buy supplement packs at a store or how did that work?I would imagine it was only so many players per team but I don't want to assume that.I'd like to find one of these suckers complete.Me and a few friends could probably try it out.Might be fun if you are a diehard baseball fan.

Most came with a full team (starters). They were sold like a board game, complete. There are custom card makers out there though, so if you buy a game board, you can buy vintage teams from these guys. Just do an eBay search for strat-o-matic and you'll find all kinds of stuff.

Hey guys,

I have a question and figured this would be the best place to get the answer!

I am selling my Dad's cards for him and one of the cards is a 1993 Upper Deck Iooss Collection Nolan Ryan Jumbo /10000. Now I know these things are hard to come by, and was wondering if anyone has tracked the sales of these in the past? Or other cards from the set.. just trying to get a ballpark figure on what to expect from it.

Here is the scan of it:
scan0008.jpg

Thanks for any and all help!

Hey guys - I saw a bit in the thread on 1990's "Game Cards" today

I've worked a lot with ebay ID poko98 on these, though he is the classic extorter (oh, you need that? let me jack up the price) and reclusive, I've gotten a good idea of what is out there.

There are some legit companies that make these (most of those mentioned by gracecollector), and a few cards that are printed "as demand merits" - ie, even historical seasons are printed today

I've put together a "game card master" to help with my Griffey collection. Back when I'd sell on the bay, I bought a lot of these sets, hoping player collectors would catch on, but they never did.

Any way, I'd be happy to send my list along to all interested parties. Chris

PS - one more thing, I love seeing your awesome cards, but can we all agree to keep large images out of our signatures? the page gets cluttered
